Welcome to the original English language Poland and Polish discussion group board. This message forum is a place where English-speaking Poles, foreigners (expats) living in Poland, and anyone with a genuine interest in Poland can discuss and read the views of others concerning Poland. Subjects include: Polish news and current affairs; Life in Poland; politics; genealogy research; Polish culture and history; advice and tips on visiting Poland; Polish property and investment issues. The aim of our group is to increase awareness of wonderful Poland using the English language and allow and foster the honest debate and exchange of opinions on anything vaguely related to Poland and Polish - positive, negative and/or neutral! This discussion group is not an open-to-all public message board. Membership is by invitation only and therefore given that a fairly limited number of people have full access, it is more of a community blog than a straightforward forum. This application system was brought in to lessen the amount of spam and nonsensical and commercial posts made by casual visitors and off-topic and offensive posts left by a disruptive minority. To ask  a one-off question about Poland or respond to comments made on this board without a password just email us and provided it is at least halfway sensible, we'll post it on the board for all to see and current members will try to respond! All opinions and views expressed on this site are solely those of their respective authors and are not necessarily those of anyone else!

Another Polish worker beaten in Scotland

Thugs beat up man for being Polish

A POLISH worker was savagely beaten by three thugs in a racist attack in Edinburgh.

The 28-year-old man was punched and kicked in the head during the attack which happened after the gang were seen drinking in a city centre pub.

They turned on him after hearing him speaking Polish as they emerged from the pub and first taunted him about taking work in Scotland before laying into him.

One witness said: "They were shouting about him working here and taking jobs and when he tried to walk away they punched him to the ground and began kicking him. It was very nasty."

The three thugs were all wearing what was described as labourers' clothing along with heavy work boots when they targeted the man in Rose Street at about 7pm on Tuesday.

Police yesterday said their attack was unprovoked and racially motivated.

It only ended when a taxi driver began beeping his horn at the men, who ran off along the popular drinking street.

The victim was left with bruising on his head and body.

A police spokesman said: "This assault left the victim badly bruised and extremely shaken.

"The area of the city where the assault took place is normally fairly busy at this time of the evening, and we know there were several people who witnessed the incident.

"We want anyone who was in the area at the time, and saw what happened, to contact police immediately."

The three attackers were described as in their twenties and white.

One of them had a tattoo on his neck.

Police believed they would have been seen drinking or working in the area earlier in the evening.

There are around 25,000 Polish workers in Edinburgh. Last year, the number of racially motivated attacks in the city had leapt to four a day.
