The first problem I see here is that the director of preservation is a professor from Texas A&M. They don't have the funds or knowledge to properly preserve the Vasa. If Odyssey Marine Research recovered the vessel, they would have immediately covered it with fiberglass and it would be done! The second problem is that the Vasa Museum could afford the $400/gallon silicone if the museum officials had not lined their retirement accounts with museum profits. Here is another example of why non-profit institutes should not excavate historic shipwrecks. |
