My buns have thawed nicely after hearing from you! - despite efforts by the North Winds to keep me in a cryonic popscicle state! LOL
Me dreams every night of warm blue tropical waters and wraps another layer of skins around these forlorn frozen fins! As a Mermaid born into a Land lubber mile high family, I am torn! How did this happen? SIGH! They say I am just in love with the fight and that there is plenty of fighting to be done here... I agree,..but can't explain that it just isnt the same.
I too, was so sad not to be able to FIND you and toss down a few hot toddies with you during your Mountain training regimen! Did you ever finally manage to hit the big K yet? If not then maybe theres a chance I still might tag along as a water carrier or something? LOL
But to answer your "provenience" question, ;^) That particular missive came to me as a running parlay discourse in 2003 - but I beleive that you wrote it a longer time ago,... you had sent it in to the SUB ARCH list [you know,.. BEFORE we "dangerous" rabblerousers were booted off for "truth telling" and other incredibly nefarious deeds!]and a Mr. "C" sent it to me [under wraps to protect his sympathetic but precarious identity] after I had been "removed" from the discussion board...
I think you penned it wayyyyy back during the S.C.R.U. daze - which would put it what? Maybe the mid 70s-80s? So INDEED!and sadly enough, It was VERY prophetic! This particular rendition was in response to a running spar-'discussion' about the phrase "one mans trash is another's treasure" [circa 2003-sub arch]..where I had theorized a scenario where we were not capable of EVER producing enough "degreed archeological garbage pickers" to ever really comprehensively "study and preserve" all of mankinds' "refuse" or "lost products". Particulary since 'garbage picking' has never been a really well funded business in ANY society! LOL
It was lively -and we actually turned a few young archeo wannabes naive but still open minds around -enough for them to realize what they had a brain and a mind for...[to THINK FOR THEMSELVES!WHOA!] which really REALLY ticked off some of the laurel hoarding Lords of " Acknowledged" Archeo.
Which was fun and worth it anyway!
Pilgrim I figure that we saved some [ a few ] souls,and we definitely carried the torch for a long time...so all has not been lost Pilgrim! Hey! I may LOOOK like I'm sleeping! Hehehe!
But I sincerely beleive our course hasnt been completely run- and maybe the most important "act" is yet to come! I beleive that We [ who have fought so many seemingly "lost" cause battles,..are obliged to tell our tales and perhaps "secure" those ideas by "acccidentally" despoiting them in a historically sensitive and UBER protected spot ! - you know, one of those extremely well "managed and protected [by tons of overburden intentionally deposited on top of it]"precious historic "in situ" places -where someday SOMEONE might stumble upon them! When the Lords of "How We Say It Is" are dead and long forgotten.
Our stories will only be remembered if we make efforts to pass them along.And everything Old will be discovered anew!
Hee heee yep! we perhaps must recognize that we are parts of the very history that others would like to submerge and bury! YARRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!
So, we are simply being what we are! Which is ALWAYS questioning authority and prevailing public opinion, and LIVING the Dreams, slding through life against the winds and the odds and the nay saying self appointed power gods,...shouting "HOLY F*%$@ Sh^%T and YAHHHHHOOOO" all the way! YARRRRRRRRR!
You taught me that Pilgrim! You and the entire dang family at Mel's...it gave me the nudge,to fight back against the despair and deceptions..on the wildest ride of life imaginable! Which every single human being decides on a daily basis to either jump onto -defying sanity and logic and flying on heart and sheer will power alone,... or not!
As Ole Buddy Dennis Hopper says in the stupidist "let Us BANKERS Help you" commercial,.. "youre dreams aren't fragile little flowers your dreams are STRONG and POWERFUL!" "This isnt a weekend gardening project!" Some crap holds kernels of truth! Such is life! It all really makes complete sense in the whackiest of ways!
We're human scavengers and survivors. We will prevail and we will pursue the truth and our own happiness long after every notion of "government sanctioned" freedom is stripped away by that very same "freedom and democracy" government-and a citizenry that "goes along to get along allows." Sooner or later the presence and value of singularity and self determination will re-emerge. It is a simple fact and manifestation of life itself.
