Two weeks ago, while visiting my family in New York, I went to see a special memorial to the 9/11 victims. It was a beautiful sprawling site that meandered and curved through large sand dunes of a beach on southern Long Island. I was walking with my younger sister and her family as I watched my 3 year old niece looking at each of the polished black granite plaques bearing the pictures of some of the World Trade Center victims. My sister pointed out to her the picture of her aunt that she had never met. She stood there and stared for a moment, then went over and touched her aunt Sue’s face and smiled. What was she thinking I wondered. When will she know the truth? When will she understand the truth? When will we?
