The reason that no one has heard anything positive over the Juno/LaGalga recovery project is that there is none to report.
Unfortunately, it is the very thing we predicted would happen when the governments got involved (both Spain & US) and that is that no work has been done and the historical contents of those ships continue to rot on the ocean bottom. Their 'official' name for this is "Preservation in Situ."
What it means is that they are protecting the wrecks for you and I by letting them disintegrate. They have been quoted on many occasion as saying, “It would be better to let the ships rot on the bottom than to allow private salvors recover them.” And yes, that is a quote from a federal government archaeologists and others. |
