Message:   Pat thanks for the update on the political situation. My main concern presently is the practical steps one must take in order to salvage (as I think jim Sinclair once said)a "merchant ship of unknown national origin carrying new world cultural artifacts" OUTSIDE state waters. Is an admiralty only for wrecks in US waters? Is an admiralty any protection as to the rights of a salvor? IYHO would a company willing to go through the legal process AGAIN be able to point to the Juno and Galga as examples of high minded rhetoric and academic BS? What if a salvor discovers an unknown wreck and is unable to determine what vesel it actually is, or where it came frm or was going to due to conflicting artifacts recovered, ie Spanish, French and English coins, mixed armament, and ceramics?
Or is salvage in effect dead. Is there no recourse for individual companies to go arounf the ivory tower academics and sharp-tongued legal beagles out to make the big bucks? Are we all to be forced into piracy?
