This story is an excellent example of one of the reasons 'purists' archeologists drive most people in the real world crazy. Their insistence that contextual integrity be preserved at all cost by ONLY accepted members of their exclusive club, or the wrecksite provenience is lost forever and therefore deemed useless, is a mentality that is hard to swallow for most realists who know that the material itself will be lost forever if these guys don't get off their collective duffs and DO SOMETHING !
It is yet another admission of the absolute failure of "In-Situ Preservation" of historical wrecksite provenience located and purposely left to disintegrate on the ocean floor because of miss-led government regulations and academic jealousies.
Other than that, the story shows the two would get along just fine. (Ya think?) |
