HI Jim,
I REALLY appreciate your constant ability to post the news in waterworld! This is good news! And we need as much of that as we can get!
One can only hope that Odyssey will prevail and succeed in following through on this project and that it gets to pave the way and establish another precendent for how this can and does WORK! Maybe then we can overcome the totally inaccurate broadbrush attitude of the holier than thous who claimed that Salvors and the Fisher family's historical success was just an 'anomaly'.
Thanks Jim! AND Pat! AND Taffi! AND so many other 'standing loyal forces'. For keeping the lighthouse lit!
I don't often write in but I enjoy reading your cornucopia of diverse news about salvage and recovery efforts world wide - I also tip my hat to you all for 'staying the course' - year after year [heck!-decade after decade!]
You are providing one of the few but primary and vital forums where you voices of reason, warmth and great courage continue to "man the helm" in this often misunderstood and unfairly maligned industry.
Also for 'raising the bar' of professionalism and championing better understanding and cooperation - among one another in this very colorful and animated industry -and especially for being the steady yet passionately supportive voices of discourse in the social sciences realm of 'marine archeology' and in ALL levels of the the political arenas, from local and state to international levels!
And you still find the time to continue searching the world for lost treasures as well! Dang! How impressive! How restorative to those of us who've sometimes become despairing or discouraged in our own little quests!
You never fail to rise above the squabbling and quibbling- and often add a touch of much needed levity to the issues! You've herded together and maintained a haven for all who find their passion here looking for and working in the world of treasure salvage and underwater discovery.
It means more than can be expressed in a simple email. I hope you all recognize that you are an invaluable part of history makers yourselves! I hope someday to see a book [or three!] about you all- in my opinion you are all part of the big history of Florida's- America's - and the World's Maritime history -and you are yourselves national treasures!
I obviously dont subscribe to the "Smithsonian" or Big Gov't version of allocation and appropriation of assets!
No, I'm not butt kissing! You know me better than that! I just needed to say what I think and feel and I know many others who would agree.
Sometimes we forget to stop and appreciate what has been standing and supporting all of us for so very long! So, It can't be said too much! You have completed the bridges that pioneer discoverers began to build, and you've continued to work tirelessly to keep them standing. You have been the bridge makers. Regardless of what the public or states realize- I for one [of many!] realize what you mean to this industry.
I dont know what else to say but Thanks! When those of us have wandered away or been washed away from the very things we lived for and loved to do- you've remained and grown stronger and wiser. You've never hestitated to welcome newcomers and loners and you've always been an open door for anyone who kept an open mind and often provided the only support for those of us who are opelessly addicted to chasing windmills lost at sea! LOL!
You are still providing so many with the 'audacity to hope' that the marine salvage industry isnt simply a dinosaur vestige of hopeless dreamers and scalliwags!
You've led from the front -ALWAYS- You've never given up- and you've never forgotten from whence you came - and I cannot express how immeasurably inspiring and great that makes you. At least in my eyes and heart!
You've taken us to the next level and you do a great service to all who dare to seek for lost treasures and do so despite the risks and rewards!
WHile the world continues shuddering in dischord and chaos- you are all part of the menders and keepers.
Bless You all!
