Log Home in the South
Any thoughts about how log home would hold up if built in the South with 100% humidity 10 months of the year? |

Depending on the species chosen it would hold up fine. Choose eith Western Red or Yello Cypress Cedar and you should have no problems. Here is a builder in Canada that specializes in Cedar www.coastmountainlogohmes.com |

I think you would do well to stick to kiln dried western red cedar to avoid cracking and also the growth of mold. If you have time check out either of these sites: www.florida-cedar-log-homes.com or www.newenglandcedarhomes.com cheers, Simon |

Another good material is Tidewater Red Cypress or other cypress. They grow in water so are quite comfortable in humid conditions. |

You might inquire with a log home builder down south. They can probably tell you plenty about the climate-specific considerations. I would start with the folks building Cielo Falls in North Carolina (plenty of humidity in the Blue Ridge Mountains!) http://www.cielofalls.com |
