chose maric college

I chose maric college over a community adult school. It's alot closer and the hours are much better. expensive but I think it'll be worth it.

Did grants/financial aid cover your costs?

Re: chose maric college

yes, pretty much. Only have to make payments of $26/mo for 8 months after financial aid. gonna try to pay it off asap though. Not looking forward to paying loans but that's part of going to school. most students get loans of some sort. maric is supposed to be one of the top schools for medical assisting in ca.

Phoenix,
I think you're on the right track here. $26/mo X 8mo. is reasonable. Go for your certification! MA's may make peanuts but the peanuts are a little bigger if you are certified. Stock up on index cards!

Re: chose maric college

In ca we start out @ 12-13 dollars an hour, which isn't bad for a woman who just has herself and 2 parakets to support. I work in security now which pays about 10 an hour but we're outside in all kinds of weather, no real opportunity for advancement. people who have been working there for years only make no more than $11. I am also working to get off gov't benefits including their rotten health insurance. I'd be grateful for a medical assistant position that pays more than i have now and I will be better off than I have now with an opportunity to advance myself. I am also on the waiting list for a luxury loft apt that has some units set aside for people w/very low incomes or middle incomes. I think medical assisting will help me reach my goal of moving in there. for the very low income units you cannot make more than $25, 000 a year, $ 31,000 for the middle income.

Phoenix...I am not sure if you still post here but how did you go about, getting Financial Aid. 26x8 = $208 down from $8,000. Thats a lot of money your saving. Are you still curently going and how do u like it?
