Message:   Hi, everyone! I just spent all of yesterday and this morning at the New York District Spring Board Meeting in Poughkeepsie, and I just thought I'd give people a little update. The meeting was a ton of fun, and we got an amazing amount accomplished in a meeting that lasted around 4 hours.

First, we discussed the importance of getting election report forms in. Clubs that have yet to turn in their forms are:
Troy
Catholic Central
Hoosick Falls
Maple Hill
Columbia
It is VERY IMPORTANT that you mail your forms in immediately... if you guys don't get them in on your own, you'll have to deal with incessant calls from me until you do =)

After much debate, we decided to once again have 10 charities for our New York District Projects. Those charities are:
1. Alzheimers Association
2. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (aka Lou Gehrig's Disease)
3. American Diabetes Association
4. American Cancer Society
5. Multiple Sclerosis Society
6. National Alliance for Autism Research
7. Make a Wish Foundation
8. Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center
9. Kamp Kiwanis
10. Local Causes

This year, the New York District has a goal of raising $150,000 toward those 10 district project charities... it'll be challenging, but i know we can do it!

Finally, I have been put on two committees; Advocacy Committee and Distinguished Key Clubber Award Committee, so be prepared to hear a lot about those two things in the coming year! :) If you have any idea for a cause that you would like to advocate, feel free to email me, and i can work with you in writing a letter that will be really easy for Key Clubbers to just sign and send out... hopefully in HUGE numbers! Our goal is $5,000 letters this year!!! More information about the Distinguished Key Clubber Award will be coming soon... in the meantime, make sure that you meet the first requirement by coming to the RTC at 9am on May 14th at Shaker High School! You get to meet tons of cool people (possibly including our amazing New York District Governor Kristen Reed! Let's show her what an enthusiastic division we have, guys!)

If you still haven't emailed me your club's contact information, PLEASE PLEASE DO!! I really can't do my job as ltg. until I am in contact with you all, so this is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

Well, I think that's about it for now. I'll be sure to keep you updated as more information is given to me, so keep checking!

<3 Ltg. Elizabeth
