Considering moving to DS

Hi! I'm a Senior in college and am considering moving to DS May 2007 when I graduate. I'm originally from a town south of Houston. My boyfriend and I are going to be coming at the end of August, so he can check out the town and area. He's originally from Iowa and is going to move down here next year also.

I'm majoring in Elementary Education and fell in love with y'all's Primary school. I heard that there should be a new Elementary school ready for Fall 2007; Is this true? My boyfriend and I would like to find jobs and have a lot of our plans settled prior to moving out there, so I just wanted to make sure.

I also hear there aren't many apartments in that area either. Are there rental houses or affordable housing?

My boyfriend is going into Business/ Accounting. I know there are a few businesses there in DS for accountants, but I was wondering how to find out about job openings any where else.

We go to college in Iowa, so during the Fall/Spring it's difficult to get down here to check things out. I'd really appreciate any help or info that can be given. I love this town and dream of moving there, I just need to make sure there will be job opportunities!

Thanks SO much!

Re: Considering moving to DS

They are building a new school, Rooster Springs, in the Belterra neighborhood to open Fall 2007.

There are a lot of homes to rent in Belterra, which is between DS and Austin. I think Keller-Williams in the realtor for those homes. You could easily live in an apartment in southwest Austin off 290 or MOPAC (Loop 1 South) and be relatively close.
