polo club subdivision
We are considering the purchase of a home in the polo club subdivision and I'd like to solicit frank opinions of that community, the commute to the UT campus area and the proximity to grocery stores, restaurants, etc. I'm also concerned about entertaining and socializing my two young kids, ages 1.5 and 3. We have always lived within city limits where parks, kids activities and classes are minutes away. How far out is this neighborhood, and is it really as nice as it seems? Thanks in advance. |

Your e-mail sounds as if you've never been here, if so let us help. We moved here last fall and researched the area via the internet. We finally decided to rent until we became familier with the area, were glad we did and suggest you do to. The Polo Club is fairly nice area, however you are NOT a member of the facility just because you move in. It is seperate and not partof a HOA. There is a new "coming soon" retail mall sign at the enterance to the subdivision...ask about it. You are about 9 miles from the nearest real grocery or about 4 miles outside Drippin Springs. The schools are about 10 to 15 minutes away (at 60 miles per hour). We found there are alot of nice areas here besides Polo. We wound up buying 5 acres in Dripping and building our own home (that would easily fit into the Polo Club) and were 2 miles or less from the schools. Try Googleing the Polo Club via a satalite view. Best of luck! |

Been out here for four years (Belterra) This area is great but slightly isolated (for now). Not sure what you are looking for. If you want horses go for the Polo Club. That is the only reason I can think of. Four your young Kids, check out Belterra, belterratexas.com ) about 1.5 miles East of the Polo Club. Large, mid to high end subdivision with a brand new Elementary school opening this Fall. Good mix of families, retires and new couples. Now, your commute to UT. Austin is pretty much the same as any poorly designed city. It will suck big time. In another year even bigger time. Impossible in five years. Commute now would be a minimum of 1 hr bumper to bumper and there are no short cuts. Toll rd. is in the wind but I doubt it will help. Perfect advice about renting first and then buying. You won't regret it. We looked for over a year! The possibilities are endless around here. You won't escape the traffic bugaboo. |
