So There IS a Cereal...I Found It

I will NEVER be off the cereal aisle now. What a wonderful picture to find...

The front of the cereal box, causing me to grin and drool and stand like a slack-jawed idiot on the cereal aisle.

The cereal is pearl-shaped chocolate bits with pirate-shaped marshmallows in case you can't read it because of the slight blur and the flash haze.

The back of the cereal box

Complete with quotes from the movie. What The Black Pearl is...is FREEDOM. and others.

The side opposite the nutritional information which does not interest me one bit

And why stop now...the box top.

Am I going to eat it? Of COURSE not.

Not yet. I will wait until the opportune moment.

Oh Nervy!!!!!!!!!!!

I know where I'm headed as soon as I get off work!!! (Or maybe even at lunch!)

That is HYSTERICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(But...oh dear....I wonder what Johnny will say about being "packaged" as a pre-sweetened cereal???????? )

I know it's crass commercialism...I know it's exploitation....I know it's capitalism at it's very lowest........but I don't care!!!!!!!! I'm gonna get me some!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: So There IS a Cereal...I Found It

Johnny probably knows it is going to happen with the sequels. I think he has arrived at very special place within himself. He calls the shots. The anger that he had from 21 JS, I think, is gone. Now there is inner peace.

There were similar products with CATCF also. Remember how we went crazy with the cupcakes and all?

Re: Re: So There IS a Cereal...I Found It

Well, yes...the cupcakes. But the tie-in with chocolate products was probably a natural for Willy Wonka....but his (and our) beloved Jack Sparrow on a breakfast cereal????

But...now JACK would find it amusing and look for a way to turn it to his advantage!!! roflol

You MUST be kidding.....

Jack probably INVENTED it, and gets a percentage of the sales lol

Re: So There IS a Cereal...I Found It

From the sublime (JD as CJS), to the ridiculous (seeing that visage used to market a box of cereal). Gack.

Re: Let's go down memory lane, shall we?

Are there any other movies that spawned pictures on cereal boxes? If you can think of any, post it okay?

Now I'm not saying I LIKE Captain Jack being used to market cereal. I think there are better things he could market, but it is done so who's to argue?

Very recent, like now:

King Kong.

Re: Re: Let's go down memory lane, shall we?

now they've done it...they've gone too far...
that's why the very next paycheck i'll be buying myself a box, and i'll let you all know how it tastes!

and as to other movies that have spawned cereals? i didn't know there weren't any that didn't?

Location: not so close to the heater as before...

There were cereal boxes that had Star Wars characters ON them,

However, I don't think they ever actually modelled a cereal AFTER the characters in the movie.

I don't recall ever seeing a Darth marshmallow!!!

Re: True Laura

But if there is even a character ON the box it makes people want to buy it.

They did have 'Dark Side' M&M's. I remember hunting those down and then eating them in the same primitive fashion once I found them.

Re: Re: Re: Let's go down memory lane, shall we?

There were some cereals that had the "huncback" animated movie right ??

Re: Re: True Laura

Is this cereal for real? !! I still cant believe my eyes! Has anyone in the UK seen it? Must have it!!

Location: within the sound of howling wolves

I'm worried raven....

That this might be a "for America" only publicity move. Sometimes we can't get things like this in Canada either, so I will have all my friends keep a weather eye out for it while they're grocery shopping.

Let us know if you find it in the UK. Then chances would be good that I can get it here.

And if worse comes to worst, I can always take a little 2 1/2 hour trip south of the border to visit Jules and do a bit of shopping while I'm there.

Re: Yes, FOR REAL

This cereal is for real, unless I am asleep and dreaming all this.

I went to the store, meandered down the cereal aisle expecting to see some mention of POTC and Captain Jack on some kind of existing cereal and there in his splendor right in front of me. There were not many boxes of it on the shelf. Only about five.

In my little town! That never gets anything!

The pictures I posted I took myself with my digital camera when I got home.

Curious marketing ploy

This is NOT on the Kellogg site, and nothing comes up in a Google web or news search.

I bet straight rum has a higher nutritional value!

Nervy! Nervy! Nervy!

Publix? Kash and Karry? Albertson's?
Where oh where, pray tell?

Re: So This is What it Takes Admiral of Vices?

To get you out of the woodwork, as it were?

Where the *bleep* have you been luv? I have MISSED you terribly! But you're SAFE now, so we will be galivanting off after pirate cereal.

PUBLIX! I found it at Publix. Only about five boxes on the shelf.

If anyone just HAS to have this item and cannot find it, I am willing to drive myself the rest of the way over the edge and get it for you. It is about $3.89 per box. Anything for me mates.

Re: Strange

http://www.kelloggs.com/brand/disneycereals/

POTC cereal is not even listed under disney cereals. Wonder why? Perhaps it is too new and Kelloggs has not updated their site yet?

Location: At Jacks Side

Ack! Publix?

I have been in there 3 times in the last 24 hours! Didn't need cereal so I didn't go down that aisle. Guess I need to go back again tomorrow.

Sorry I've been an absentee crew member. Went down to Mummy and Daddy's in South Florida and vegetated for a few days. Speaking of Mummy, we saw the Tut exhibit in Ft. Lauderdale while we were there. Now we're back to school, so here I sit at the computer, avoiding lesson plan books and papers in need of grades, and report cards waiting to be completed. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to be a grown-up.

Jack would be better off

Re: Lanie

So how was the King Tut exhibit? I had actually meant to see that before it left. Drat, drat, and drat.

And yes, school is looming. And grades, and paperwork. sigh. Too bad break can't go on forever.

So, you want to meet up and see The Bounty while it's at St. Pete? What say you?

Location: At Jacks Side

Re: Re: Lanie

The Tut exhibit would have been much better without the 2 hour wait in line. We had tickets for 5 o'clock but didn't get in the museum until almost 7. The museum was not doing a good job of handling crowds, although the exhibit itself was quite interesting. But none of the big stuff came over this time, and less than half of the items are from Tut's tomb. The audio tour was done by Omar Sharif (Dr. Zhivago himself!) and was the best part, except that my headset battery died and I had to meander around for 20 minutes to find a replacement.

As for the Bounty, I don't think I'll be able to join you because we are now in Odyssey of the Mind season. Means no weekends to meself. Must be there to crack the whip over Chuckles and the gang every Sat and Sun until March, or April if we go on to state finals. No time for fun and frivolity, except I'm sure there will be a break in the grind to go to the Renaissance Fest at some point. Want to meet us there? Not sure of dates and times yet, but I'll keep you posted.

Re: No Bounty? Bummer...

As far as the Renaisance or however you spell it, YES I would love to meet up for that.

Location: At Jacks Side

No Worries, Raven!

Did not find said cereal at the one place I stopped tonight on my way home from work, but I shall continue my search and widen my search area...never fear, mate! I shall find it....

There be the store....inside be the cereal....AND JANSY TOOK IT!!!! roflol

I may not be able to post the cereal contents to you and Helen, but I could sure send you the boxes!!!

Shall I, then??? Say the word, luv...and when I find them, you'll have it!

Re: Div'ner Morgan

In answer to your question about cross posting.

I did not cross-post it anywhere.

Later last night I noticed a thread about the cereal on The Zone. I began skimming through it to see if anyone had found the cereal in other states or countries. Quite a few posters were asking what the box looked like. DeepInDepp had found my post here on the Bride and linked it over there so that gave more people the chance to see pictures and stuff.

Re: Some Marketing Info

I have submitted a question about this products marketing in the States and in the U.K., France, and Sweden. I also asked them why it is not listed on any area of their website, regardless of country. I called the toll free number first but that rep directed me to the corporate site.

We shall see if they reply.

Re: Re: Some Marketing Info

Why? Are you planning on moving to Sweden?

Re: Moving? To Sweden?

No.

A new POTC fan surfaced and asked if this cereal would be sold in Sweden or Europe.

BLAST! How could I be so daft? I forgot Canada!!!

Oooo, I'm dizzy...what a rush

Re: So There IS a Cereal...I Found It

Plimmy and I scoured Hopkinsville with no manner of luck, either! This is an elusive cereal, and maybe you should have bought all there was to help out your mates, eh?

Checked a Kroger on the north side of Atlanta this evening -- either sold out, or not there yet.
