Show Training
Hello We have a 13 week TT puppy and we are considering showing her in some of the local events and possibly the TT event on 9th April. Where can I find information about training for shows and what the judges are looking for? Thanks Paul |

Hi Paul Ask around or check your local press for a RINGCRAFT training class. These classes are for training dogs for show. I will also add some show training tips to the website shortly so keep checking us out. In the meantime DONT train your puppy to sit whenever you stop (ie: at a kerb edge) otherwise he will do it in the show ring! And get your pup used to standing on demand, having his body felt over and mouth examined. All this is what the judge will do. Jill |

We are doing ringcraft training with Harvey. His main problem at the moment is that he is gets very distracted by the other dogs. Find a good class (as we have) and get lots of practice in. If your pup has had both jabs and can go out for walkies then you will be able to take it to classes. Bear in mind though you will not be able to enter competitions until your pup is six months old. You will be able to compete in matches though at the club, which will give you and your pup experiance of showing. |
