This Week at MacHenry's Fort Worth March 15, 2006

Now here's what is happening this week at MacHenry's:

EVERY TUESDAY:
COME IN! SIT DOWN! TUNE UP! SING OUT!
The song circle is alive and well and living at MacHenry's. If you play or sing, this is your chance to be heard. Randy " Flash" Galbreath hosts. The circle starts about 8pm. Bring your guitar, mandolin, harmonica, tuba, oboe (no kazoos please) violin or cello and join in the fun. All levels of players are welcome.
No cover.
EVERY WEDNESDAY:
The Wide open Mic with DON McRAY. Our dear friend Don McRay is the host of an open mic for advanced and professional players. This is a great place for working musicians to try out new songs, or for aspiring players to see how it's done. NO COVER
THURSDAY, February 16, 2006
SONGWRITERS IN THE ROUND: 8PM No Cover
RENÉ WEST WITH JOHN WALKER & ZEN BUBBA.
Our songwriter's series continues, with the incredible Rene West hosting. Rene is a marvelous songwriter, her songs are full of humor, and the worries of everyday life, all sung in a voice that that may just reach out and pin you to the wall. She is joined tonight by the owner of MacHenry’s and a fine songwriter, in his own right, John Walker. Also on stage is Robert E Williford a.k.a Zen Bubba. A teenager when he began playing guitar, he often felt that playing guitar was the most fun he could have with his clothes on! Bob has played folk, jazz, rock-n-roll, and everything in between -- from Chuck Berry to Gram Parsons.
Listen to the words in his music to get a slice of real life and the tunes he creates to get yourself really rockin'! Bob's sound has a combination of influences that will keep you guessing.

CALAMITY ROAD 6pm to 8pm on the patio.

Calamity Road are Vince Cole; guitar, banjo and occasional vocal. . Helen Mateki; Female vocal and Rogan Muldoon; male vocals and 12 string guitar. The music is "old time" songs and ballads ranging from the plains of Texas to the Curragh of Kildare. The hills of Appalachia and the Ozarks to the Highlands of Scotland. Here is a collection of songs for children young and old, with roots reaching back to the "old sod".

GALLUS 8pm till late

Gallus has delighted audiences around Texas with its eclectic mix of traditional Irish tunes and American folk music, bringing together some of the finest traditional musicians in the Metroplex. Mimi Rogers and Michelle Feldman provide fiery fiddling thanks to many years of experience as ceili and contra-dance players. Emily Bryant anchors the group on guitar while her sultry vocals blend with Mimi's crystalline voice in harmonious arrangements of traditional and contemporary songs. David Lovrien spices things up with tin whistles, keyboards and saxophone, while native Scotsman, Craig Scotland, drives the rhythm with his bodhran and other percussion.

For those wonderful folk that like to play the odd jig and reel or sing the occasional celtic song please bring your instrument with you, there is a strong possibility that there may be a great session after the gig. The bar is open till 2 am you know, hint hint.
