Re: Mid Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council - Get Involved!

Hi Michael:

is it possible to send letters to the people in the North Hollywood area. Not all of us have internet access and know about these council meetings.

Re: Mid Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council - Get Involved!

Sure it is possible but its a question of expense. The Council does get some funding but its current number of constituents (tens of thousands) would mean they could probably only afford 1-2 mailings at most per year. Internet is just one way but you are right there needs to be others.

The Council needs more good folks to serve. We have trouble getting a quorum and need more people on our committees. If interested send me an email.

How about updating the @#%$#%#@ Mid-Town website????

It's still has 2005 information.

That can't cost much and since the City lists the website, Mid-Town really needs to take the initiative and get the information on the website.

Betty - actually there is a new group of people on the website committee and they've done a good job of getting a proposal for a good new site. They are now waiting for the City's approval.

That is the one problem with things - the Council has to deal with DONE which has to approve everything and they take forever. It would be better if North Hollywood was it's own city and not part of LA. We could get more done and the place would be nicer.

Yikes! That would be me (gulp) :-[

I better get off my gravity cushion.

The communications committee met three weeks ago and chair person Jennifer Freund gave us a bare-bones outline of the new site. It's I finished the home page text today and will submit it tonight. The domain is paid for
through public funds (the neighborhood council budget that mostly is returned to the city at the end of the fiscal year, unspent), but the work is volunteered. I pay for the arts and humanities committee site out of my pocket as donation to the little district we love to shake up like a broken vending machine. We've all dropped our coins in - in one way or another.

Re: Mid Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council - Get Involved!

Where can I find dates and times for community committee meetings. This site doesn't seem to have any schedules, the northhollywoodarts.com hasn't been updated since last year, and the Chamber site is just as useless. Is there some page on some site somewhere that I've missed?

You can email

to be added to email notifications.

I haven't been yet this year, but generally the Mid Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council meets on the second Wendesday of the month at 6:30pm at Sendak Elementary School located at 11414 Tiara Street in North Hollywood.

For some reason, this information isn't exactly easy to locate but perhaps if more people become involved we can change that!

See you at a meeting!

Re: Mid Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council - Get Involved!

Hi there -

As still a relatively new member to the Neighborhood Council I haven't totally figured it all out yet but I know we need more participation especially from those of us who live here in the Arts District proper or we're going to have outsiders make decisions for us.

The meeting is every second Wednesday at 630 at Sendak Elementary on Tiara just east of Lankershim.

One issue coming up I could use your support on is the elections. The Council elections will be held in June I think and they are proposing only ONE polling place for ALL of North Hollywood and it will be in Laurel Plaza. So if you live in NoHo you have to travel over there to vote. Which means the bulk of the people there who will be voting are going to be the Laurel Plaza homeowners group who may have different views about NoHo than we do. I'm working to have a polling place in NoHo as well. It just doesn't seem fair otherwise.

Re: Mid Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council - Get Involved!

I second that. It does seem unfair if the only polling place is Laurel Plaza. I think we'd get better represenation, and more NoHo residents participating if there was a place to vote in NoHo proper. What can we do to help you open a NoHo polling place?
