Graffitti problem part to and plus
Hi Lisa: You replied to my previous post on the ongoing Graffitti problem back in June. Calling 311 is fine and all but shoulnt some of the money put on improving NO HO be put on more police officers? Also, what ever happened to the bike patrol? A lot of the NO HO improvement seems to be centered around the Lankershim area. How about concetrating on the outskirts and what is up with all the apartment buildings popping up everywhere. It seems like every year there is construction going on. There sure is no peace for the long time residents here. Where can my neighbors and i go to complain or give our two cents? |

Hi Patty, Thanks for your post. From what I've read, many of the problems we're facing here in NoHo can be resolved by the new Business Improvement District (BID)that has been approved. Part of their mandate is security and beautification of the area. Please try contacting the Chamber of Commerce for the BID contact information. Your concerns are all of our concerns. It's absolutely DISGUSTING what the City has let happen to the new stretch of Chandler Boulevard (from Red Line east to Vineland). EVERYTHING IS COVERED in grafitti. TREES, NEW STREET LIGHTS, SIDEWALKS. Hello??????? Mr. LaBoob, anyone home???? |

A few things you can do...(if you haven't already) The only way the politicians are going to pay attention to us who live here in the District is if we organize. First, make sure you are registered to vote. I totally forgot that I had not yet re-registered to vote from my previous Sherman Oaks address. Next if you can, get your neighbors and show up at the Neighborhood Council meetings. The reason communities like Sherman Oaks or Toluca Lake get attention from the electeds is because they get lots of people showing up to all these meetings. Our NC has a lot of problems but not that can't be solved by the stakeholders participating. The other thing is organize your neighborhood into a resident's group and/or neighborhood watch. Again, this is what the succesful communities have done. The folks who live around Macy's and Valley Plaza have done a good job of this. The NC Meetings are generally the second Wednesday of the month at Sendak Elementary (Tiara and Lankershim) at 630. Sometimes the meetings start late because its hard for people to get through the traffic back home. But its better than nothing. |
