Colorful Noho intersections

Notice those funky colorful intersections popping up all over NoHo? It's the "Streetscape" project funded through the CRA. New pole banners are going up soon with the "brush stroke" concept. It's starting to feel like NoHo is evolving into a Haight-Ashbury type of district. Let the attention shine on us here in NoHo, it's feeling pretty good!"

Yes, the intersections look cool and do add to the artsy flavor of the neigborhood. Also, the landscaped median on Tujunga near Riverside is nice. But I wish the L.A. dept. of streets and services would try to make an effort the repave Tujunga Av. bet. Magnolia and Riverside and Magnolia bet. Lankershiem and Vineland. These streets and in DEPLORABLE condition and have been reaking havoc on our vehicle's suspension systems for years.

Hi Darryl,

Yes, a lot of the streets are in bad condition. You should call 311, the City's information line for the number for street services. They will help you.

Trees are another problem but they only come out to trim them every decade...no joke, I've called.

Re: Colorful Noho intersections

Sampson,

Extending my hand, my name is Paul Perner and I grew up in North Hollywood and have been in NoHo since 1974, long before the neighborhood was made into an arts district. I've seen so many changes and so many galleries and city employees come and go. Lisa is telling the truth. This web site does not represent the Kremlin of NoHo. There are many players on the chess board in this zip code. The most powerful and "in the know" is the CRA. Go to the TV Academy Building, sign in to go to the 7th floor. Make a right down the hallway out of the elevator. You'll find a literature rack in the CRA office stocked with photocopies of the "big plan" that is creating the district on the civic level. The documents are free for the taking. In them you will find more names, phone numbers and e mails than you can call in one lifetime. Even so, the Mayor himself doesn't know everything about NoHo just as Lisa or I don't. One scoop I CAN tell you, the CRA's main job here (NoHo Commons etc.) is almost done and the bigger ball will be in the MTA's hands, which is more involved with the County. They're a tougher, and unfortunaty, slower cookie to crack. I also have a NoHo site (3 actually) that I will link here as soon as they are updated. They are for more specialized, neighorbood and political things that might not always be of interest to tourists or folks that don't actually live within the district.

Keep the Fiath, whatever yours may be.... and I will see you at the Mid-Town NoHo NC meeting!

Re: Colorful Noho intersections

This Stu guy has issues...

Why does he pick fights?? Why does he act like people owe him answers & explanations???

Dude, you bug. Save your accusations & investigations for your own website...

This ain't a politcal forum - its a neighborhood forum!

Keep up the good work, Lisa. Alot of us on here appreciate what you're doing. You should ignore this Stu guy from now on & spend your time on other posters questions that actually do appreciate your replies...

Stu gotta go... he's killing it...

Re: Colorful Noho intersections

Well I don't think it helps much to get all over people who are trying to do things here in NoHo even if you don't approve of their methods or activities. We can all agree to disagree in the end.

I just moved back to NoHo though was here from 95 until about 2003 and now live about as dead center NoHo as you can get. I am amazed by what has happened. But I am not all that dialed into this website or any of the other things the Bianconis do. However I do know that Nancy Biaconi has always been awesome and very supportive of a lot of things here locally. If she's making money so what? That's the American way.

Now more importantly I do have to say that the intersections look like crap. As my friend Zuma Dogg told the City Council (of course taking the line from me), quite frankly they look like Walt Disney threw up.

The CRA used to do a much better job of engaging the community in these types of things, but their current MO is to do what they want without community input it seems.

NoHo is on the upswing, private money is coming in, its time for the CRA to close up shop. NoHo is working.

By the way, I just saw a commercial on cable for the NoHo HOWS! It feels like I am living in a community! OH!

I agree. Nancy and Lisa B live and breath NoHo and have dedicated lots of time and energy to make this area better and more condusive to the arts.

Yes-I think it's time to officially let the CRA know that the community (Neighborhood Council, Jaycees, Chamber, Rotary, Kiwanis etc.) would appreciate some input and feedback on some of the enhancements and projects being implemented into NoHo. I'd be happy to draft up a letter.

Re: Colorful Noho intersections

Hey Guys, I have to say that is site is the funniest (and saddest) conversation I've seen yet. Shame on you for not using this board to create something (NOHO) rather than trying to take your anger at a situation out on a visitor here. Remember, NOBODY'S PERFECT. We all make mistakes. So give a little slack here, ok?

If you are upset with a lack of change or something not being done, then it is YOUR responsibility to see that it gets done. Share your ideas. I guarantee that if you get enough people together who are upset about a situation, you all will be able to change it. I can also guarantee that complaining alone will not get what you want. Good luck to you all.
