Space
What about a communal arts making space? Is there one? How does one get "in"? I don't have enough space in my apartment. |

there isnt one...the district is too busy giving scam artists money to but a house...instead of creating a communal art space-you can meet other artists...and hang out with them-but the only way this district will sponsor anything for visual artists--besides at the carnifest they do once a year-is if all artists stand up and protest...demand to see a budget the cra is granted and demand sponsorship...instead of giving it to scammers to buy a house-- |

Hi Cathy & Stephen, Thank you both for your posting about the group art space. The communal art-making space is a great idea but there may be logistical and business side problems with it. How will it be set up, where would storage be, what's the insurance liability, who organizes the time slots for artists to paint, etc. I'm definitely not "dumping" on the idea...I would love to see it happen! I sincerely hope that there is a viable way to open a space like that. I don't know if the idea has been proposed. Or if it has some time before, it probably wasn't a good working plan. If there is a group of artists who would like to take the lead, then they should draft a mini proposal or a working paper and make an appointment to speak with the CRA. Someone has to come out and start the ball rolling. The idea is fabulous, it just needs implementation. CRA: (818)753-1918 Good luck and please keep the forum posted. Lisa Bianconi Editor |
