Hi Sue, Thank you for using our new message board and congrats to you and your new White Capped. Two of my pets are Pionus. The official sizing chart claims that Pionus should fit in a large. This has been true for 3 different Blue Heads that we have suited up and for a BW that belongs to a buyer. BUT, my BW fits better in the size Wide which is for the TAG. In other words, not all birds fit the mold.
It really helps to have a weight on your pet. Weighing your bird is a good habit to have anyway. Parrots are known to be excellent at hiding diseases and many owners are shocked when their pets comes up really sick, but seemed fine the day before. This is part of their skill at hiding diseases. But, they can't hide the fact that they are dropping weight and this is usually the first clue that a parrot owner will have if a bird is sick.

Sue, I see a White Cap as 180 and a Red Belly as 125 on the average. Flights suits are better a bit big than a bit small. The birds are super irritated when they are too small. When a suit is a bit too big, you can take a very small seam in the suit just above the abdomen. When a bird first gets a flight suit on, they hate it. One of their first challenges is learning to not put their feet inside the suit. If the suit is too big, then can really get their feet tangled up. If the suit fits properly, they overcome this challenge.
If your WC Pionus is around the average 180, I would probably buy a large and realize that I may have to sew one little seam.
