The Fenland Grass Track Club (FGTC) is pleased to announce the continuing support of the club by Speedway Service Ltd and the JRM factory. Following on from the success of the JRM 250cc Challenge Series in 2007 the JRM factory in Czechoslovakia has again given the FGTC a brand new 250cc JRM engine to presented to the best 250cc rider over the clubs two meetings in 2008.
The series for the 250cc JRM engine will again be called the JRM 250cc Challenge Series. Last years winner Lee Street is likely to return to try and win another engine but he is sure to be hard pressed to win it again. The engine will be presented through the official JRM importer Speedway Service Ltd.
Alan Bellham, who is the FGTC president, has also again sponsored the club through his company Speedway Service Ltd. He will be sponsoring the 500cc solos and 350cc solos for both meetings with series in both classes being run over the two meetings. These will be the Speedway Service Ltd 350cc solo series for a £250 gift voucher and the Speedway Service Ltd 500cc solo series for a £300 gift voucher. This excellent sponsorship deal along with the superb deal from JRM again should a once again ensure that there is top flight Grass Track racing in the Fens for 2008.
Along with the sponsorship deal Speedway Service Ltd will also have their spares van at all FGTC events during the year, including the practice meeting at the Norfolk Arena on Sunday 24th February 2008. This will start at 11.00 and run through to 15.00 (3PM) and admission will be free for anybody wanting to come along. Please note that this meeting now has a full entry and we cannot take any more riders. The club would like to thank Alan, Jamie and all their staff for their continued commitment to the club and also their support to the sport. The two club meetings are over the weekends 7th & 8th June 2008 and 18th & 19th October 2008 and both meetings will be at the Runcton Holme, near Kings Lynn the venue used for the meeting in October 2007. In a change to last year we will be running youth and quad combined meetings on the Saturdays and adult only meetings on the Sundays. We are also looking into the possibility of running youth quads at both the Saturday meetings. (There is now a Moto Cross youth quad championship.) The June meeting will be the second running of the Norman Southgate Memorial meeting and we are looking for sponsors for this meeting to make it bigger and better than last year. The 500cc sidecars will again be racing for the Norman Southgate Memorial trophy, which was won last year by Shaun Harvey & Danny Hogg and it is hoped they will return to defend the title.
Further details for the clubs meetings in June and October will be released as the year progresses, but the club is always looking for willing volunteers and help before, during and after the meetings is much appreciated.
