Weather fine, wind 2-3 westerley slight seas
Laser 2 with Chris and Ross had good start followed by Tony (laser) and Darren (byte).Simon (laser)and Kate (laser R)starting further out in stronger wind. Laser2 made windward mark 1st and extended there lead throughout the race with only a poor spinacker drop to slow them down. Lasers and Byte stayed in relatively tight formation, lead changing from Tony to Simon who on 2nd lap stayed further out to sea benefitting from stronger wind. Windshift on 3rd lap allowed Kate to take over in this group with Tony close behind, Darren and Simon following. Wind speed gradually increased making the run faster, Kate was able to sail confidently by the lea healing the boat significantly to maintain her position and widen the gap.Charles in the laser tracked the group and kept in contact.
The Cats started slowly but within the 1st lap had gradually caught the monohulls.Despite Steve Duncans(RO) best efforts the square coarse initially had no beat which probably suited the cats, Windshifts by the 3rd lap created a good beat parallel to the beach
and the relatively light conditions finally hampering the cats.Kevin in the Ok had a good start and found the Ok performed well into the slight chop and was pleased to complete the race without mishap.
