Spare a thought for Luton Town - it could happen to any club
And you thought things under Mr D Brown were bad. All piss taking apart, Luton have to start the new season with a 30 point deduction which almost certainly means relegation from the football league next season (estimated minimum of 75 points just to stay up). Why? Because a bunch of crooks bought the club for a nominal sum then proceeded to asset strip the company by selling all its best players for £13 million and transferring the money to a holding company called Jayten Limited (so-called after Junction 10 on the M1 where the new ground was supposed to be built - ha ha) owned by the same bunch of crooks. They had no intention of investing in the club, they appear to have seen it as a good opportunity for making easy money. Guess where the money transferred to Jayten Limited has gone? As a result of the player sales, relegation from the Championship after two seasons. They then place the club in administration and resign as directors. As a result of going into administration we were deducted twenty points by the FL (third in ten years, although the last one was a deliberate one to get rid of Brian Guerney who was trying to do the same thing Jayten succeeded in doing). The other ten came from the FA because of illegal payments to agents. In reality, this was money paid behind Mike Newell's back because he had gone off on one regarding payments to agents in the national press. Club officials just didn't tell him about the payments when buying/selling players so there was nothing really untoward. The FA also stated that part of the reason for the points deduction was that the whistleblower was not an official of the club - this is total bollocks as Cherry Newbury has been the club secretary for years. And this is on top of the ten points deducted last season when we were in League 1. Result relegation from League 1. We have in effect, a total of a 40 points deduction. We are still in administration, we have no sponsor and the bunch of journeymen and trialists we have playing for us lost 4-1 to Hitchin Town (a team that even East Stirling could comfortably beat) on monday night in a pre-season friendly. We are not even going to get any monies from the sell-on clause of Curtis Davis from WBA to Villa because the bunch of crooks accepted a discouted cash up front deal rather than wait for the monies. What a bunch of c*nts. The only thing that I can find faintly amusing out of all this is that Luton fans were discussing burning their England shirts with the FA badge on it (some already have done) as a protest. |

Aye, it's shocking. don't know what the FA is thinking, deducting 30 ponits. Makes an arse of the league - who's going to bother to go and see Luton this season now. What about the Eastjet Stelios guy for a sponsor ? Luton airport is an Easyjet one after all... |
