tweed mcdonald

the way they treated the fans last night was shocking
for being captains of the team they let the fans down we spent hundreds of pounds supporting our beloved East Fife.and we just get slagged off,and to get told that methil is a shithole,we are the fans who help pay there wages, the way a volunteer was treated by TWEED was disgusting at the end of the night a number of players did come forward and apoligise on behalf of East Fife not on behalf of tweed himself.

Re: tweed mcdonald

Was not at the game but if if this is true i am very disapointed. I said last season that i thought tweed was my player of the season with the way he conducted himself and used his experience to keep other players in control and brining on Johnny Smart leaps an bounds and making him the player he developed into.don't know what happened but as per previous would like to know and why !

Re: tweed mcdonald

well I did not hear it myself but as far as I know pj who runs the bus was subjected to abuse,pj goes down to the club sort out players kit with dm and pw and helps clean dressing rooms and does gereral work for the the club for free and the player mentioned above tweed who is club club captian verbally abused him, when pj offered to buy around of drinks, mac donald who the player of the year and who has also been club captian said that methil was a shite hole if this is the way that they speak to fans who spend there money supporting the club and doing voluntary work it is no wonder that we cannot bring back old supporters to the club

Re: tweed mcdonald

Just home from an excellent pre-season tour and to read so much negativity is disappointing to say the least.A major part of the trip is the Saturday piss-up when things are done and said as part of the banter and is no more than that and shouldn't be taken to heart.Things are not said in order to hurt and shouldn't be taken as a serious intention to do so.What happens on tour should stay on tour. There is no need for any fan to be concerned about how things are going ,WE WILL BE FINE.It has been a long ,tiring weekend and I really need some sleep but I felt that I should try to put things into perspective.

To finish, there was no one arrested on the ferry back and the incident, such as it was, should require no more comment than that, honestly.

Re: tweed mcdonald

Methil is a bit of a shit hole but there's still ways of having a laugh about it and being offensive.

Nobody seems to have seen this first hand but if what's been said is true it sounds like the pair of them were just acting like cocks when they were drunk. We've all done it but if it's true then they should certainly apologise.

Re: tweed mcdonald

Have you guys never heards of what goes on tour stays on tour. I bet loads worse things have been done on pre internet pre season tours and it gots sorted out like adult men.
Dont know the facts or the people involved but think it sad that any sort of disagreement, argument or incident always results in folk sprinting for the keyboard to whine like wee lassies about it. As fergie would say if it involves a player and a worker (even a volunteer worker or fans who were in their company on the trip) its an internal club matter and should be dealt with thus.

Re: tweed mcdonald

Dave Marshall yet again tries to calm the waters, however these two players are an embarrasement to our club, and to treat any fan the way they have, whether it be through drink or not, is not acceptable. Both should hang thier heads in shame. I think some of our current squad believe they are "TOP PLAYERS" FOR FUCK SAKE, WE WON THE THIRD DIVISION, NOT THE PREMIERSHIP. And as for Tweed, he is an ageing footballer, playing at the end of his career. Greg Mac Donald is a player I have always respected, but maybe he too is getting too big for his boots. Niether should be allowed to captain the Fife again.

Now now ladies as Davie says whats all the negativity fair enough some things might have been said that were a bit out of order but come on True Fan has your halo never slipped not even once when you've had a couple o sherrys too many?? You tell me of one person you know who hasn't said something they later regret when they are drunk!! I wasn't over (wish I had been TITP used up all ma funds!) but wish I was Zak seems to have had the right idea creating international relations (trip to Sweden next pre season!) Hope we can all just be pals again and if anything DID happen and it's not allowed to stay on tour (like it should be!) then lets wait and see if anything is said in the captain says bit of the programme before we pass judgement. Mind what happened when we turned on Wullie Broon many moons ago!!

Re: tweed mcdonald

What goes on tour stays on tour. It is an age old saying that most men (and nowadays women too) understand and adhere to. It also possible for the person or people who were soooooo offended by what was said to point it out the person with whom they have problem at the time of it being said. I'm pretty sure I would do that rather than spouting forth on a forum.

I doubt there is anyone who could question the commitment of Toro and Tweed on the football pitch and that is what we should judge them on - their fitba efforts. If they are p*shed or talking p*sh, as many of us were in Norn Iron (myself excluded) and you don't like what they say, then walk away! It is never a good idea to run to the keyboard, hide behide a false name and have a greet about it. You are not likely to get much support.

**This is not me burying my head in the sand by the way. I believe that in the great scheme of things that whatever was or wasn't said is trivial and I for one, have real things that I could worry about (but I won't!)!

Re: tweed mcdonald

What were the players doing getting involved in a piss up anyway. They are meant to be gaining fitness at this time not getting blootered at the expense of the club!

I know they are part-time and can get up to what they want away from the club, but for the club to condone behaving unprofessionally sends out the wrong signals to young players. Surely beer should not be allowed, or are we not taking next season seriously?

For me to commit to parting with my money every saturday, I want to see committment from them!

So the players should not be allowed to drink at all? It was on Saturday night. Should we make them all sign a contract saying 'no life allowed from July to April'?

Re: tweed mcdonald

Yes in the great scheme of things this is more of a molehill than a mountain. But all of those who are playing it down should consider, drunk or not, to be on the end of such abuse especially from your "heroes" is most degrading. It would make you want to crawl into a hole and hide. Probably the perpratators also feel the same now they have sobered. The least that should happen now is a personal apology and making up to close the issue. As they are representatives of the club they may feel the need to take some action. But that is not for us to say.

Re: tweed mcdonald

Saturday night is no excuse......that is why Scottish football loses so many young players and foreign players kick on.

Just look to when Scotland beat Portugal at the U16's world cup....only Paul Dickov went on to play at the highest level (I think)...Portugal had Figo, Rui Costa etc....it's this Scottish getting blootered is ok metality that prevents us being at World Cups!

Re: tweed mcdonald

Been watching the thread on and off. Still don't know what actually happened. ???????? and Zak tried their best but all I got was:

(1) PJ offered to buy a round of drinks.
(2) Tweed verbally abused him.
(3) McDonald said that Methil was a shit hole.

Not really the full story is it. Anyone care to elaborate?

I wasn't wanting to know as a shit-stirrer but as an East Fife fan. If it's a storm in a teacup - then tell it like it happened and everbody will forget about it.

No one can seriously suggest that this doesn't or won't interest East Fife fans who weren't there (or at least warrant clarification.

'East Fife players delay a ferry by drunken antics', 'East Fife players abuse fans and team's hometown'

Nothing to see here - everyone move on....

Re: tweed mcdonald

I though tweed and McDonald played OK in the weekend's games. It's going to be interesting to see the back 4 we start the season with.

Paul Nugent also looked impressive - his forward runs brought back memories of Dave Beaton!

The one thing that does concern me is the size of the squad. Are we going to see a settled starting 11 - and if not, will constant changes work for us or against us?

Looking forward to the season proper though - it's been a long closed season!
