optimism

Most of you posting on here know a lot better than me as to how things are going but I am surprised at the pessimism some people are showing.
NOTHING will be known until the proper matches start as what has taken place up to now has merely been training sessions.
I have every confidence in a play off place and, with a huge following wind, maybe better.

I shall hopefully make two matches in August and the carpet haters in September and by then we should have some indication as to how things are.

Even you 'glass half empty' folk must think we have a good chance of doing something?

Right now we are better than that lot from down the coast!

Re: optimism

The only bad result was the Spartans one. Fair enough, the win over Edinburgh University was pretty dire stuff but a draw and a win away to Northern Irish Premier League opposition is a very decent record.

Friendlies are a totally useless indicator of how a team will do in the season ahead tho.

Re: optimism

Totally agree - to start panicking even before a ball of the season has been kicked is crazy - it will probably be a crazy season but we have a squad to more than hold there own in Div.2 - there are areas we need to get better quality players - but hopefully that will be done as the seasom progresses.

Re: optimism

Even the most pessimistic among the fans would do well to remember that THREE teams came up to Division Two this year. We are a country mile better than both Arbroath and Stranraer and everyone knows that before a ball is kicked, there's no reason to suppose it'll be any different...

That's not even taking the twelve points against the Lino Likkers into account.

Don't panic, we might not (probably won't) win the title but we're not going to be worrying about fighting out at the bottem of the pile!

Re: optimism

I feel too many are getting carried away. What we achieved last season was awesome but to think we can achieve similar success in the next league up is totally underestimating the opposition.

Yes it's good to set our sights high but too many are thinking it will be a foregone conclusion.I personally would settle for a play-off place this season and if we are unsuccessful push for promotion next season. It took 2 seasons to gain promotion for the new regime. It will take time for the new players to blend and become a good team. Give them time and dont expect us to start the new season by win win winning.

As for the friendly results, who cares, they are warm-up games to help mould the team. By the look of things in the last 4 friendlies there has been an A-team and a B-team selected for alternate games.
