Back From Ireland

Just back so a brief update...

Against Newry, we were easily the better side in the 1st half but couldn't get the goal. Second half, it levelled out with both sides coming close but no breakthrough. We had a stonewall penalty turned down, after which Fozzy was substituted at the request of the ref after our midfield man shared his thoughts on the incident. Overall, we really should have had the win.

On Saturday, we again started well and took the lead when the centre-half's back header beat his own keeper with Paul McManus claiming he got there in time to touch it over the line (which he probably did). It was going in any way. Again the 2nd half performance was disappointing and we were maybe a wee bit fortunate to hold out for the win. In this game, it was Paul Stewart who was invited to leave the field by the ref after a crunching challenge. Again, a subby was allowed on.

The player who gave the most encouraging performances for me was Paul Nugent. Against Newry, he had a mazy run and deft chip which the keeper got the merest of fingertips to. Had it gone in, it would have been goal of the season already.

Been reading on here about the alleged incident with Tweed etc but can't shed any light on it as I was elsewhere at the time - sorry.

Both Newry and Loughgall were excellent hosts and well done to the Fife fans who managed to get along, I reckon there were about 60 or 70 there, with us outnumbering the home fans in both games.

Re: Back From Ireland

That post on P&B was just mischief making. Something did happen on the Ferry and I do not think we have heard the last of this.
If true, the players involved should be ashamed of themselves and disciplined by the club.

Re: Back From Ireland

Thought it was a great weekend overall. Newcastle was a lovely wee village and the Irish were great hosts. Only downside for me was kids were not allowed into the pub after 6pm.also on a brighter note one of my party left her purse a George best Airport and did'nt notice til we arrived at Edinburgh so we phoned the airport and they informed us the purse has been handed in. all money and credit cards intake. So there is honest people in this world after all.
