Class Reunion Update:


The Welch High School 1970's Class Reunion will be held August 2-4, 2019 at the Quality Inn in Bluefield. 


There will be a Meet & Greet on Friday starting at 6pm with horderves. Don't forget to pick up your program for the weekend when you register and to buy a chance on a quilt that is being raffled off. Kelsey's Lounge in the Quality Inn will be open (for our reunion only) later in the evening with music by Mr. Bill for dancing. There will be a cash bar available. 


There will be activities on Saturday along with free time. There will be a poker tournament from 12pm-3pm hosted by our own Cotton Snuffer, world class professional poker player. Entry fee is $25. and you must register in advance. This fee is in addition to the reunion registration fee. Trophies will be awarded and proceeds will be donated to the Mt View athletic department. If you are not a card player- you are welcome to lounge and mingle by the pool or get in on a game of corn hole. Pipestem now has zip-lining if you are more daring. 


Social hour on Saturday evening will begin at 5pm,  dinner around 6pm, with a dance following. A cash bar will be provided by the Quality Inn. No BYOB to any of the events. Dinner will be buffet style and consist of a variety of meats, vegetables, bread, dessert, and drink. A photographer will be available for class pictures, individual pictures, etc. An approximate time for each class picture will be posted in your program.


Sunday at 10am there will be a Music & Praise Service. We have several classmates with beautiful voices that will be sharing their talent with us. If you would also like to sing at this service, please let us know by commenting below or private message. 


Price for the reunion is $60. single and $100. couple. Reservations must be made in advance and need to be made by June 15th.  Check should be made payable to the Welch High School 70's Class Reunion and mailed to Cathy Jack, 76 Maple Avenue, Welch, WV, 24801. Please include classmate name (including maiden name), guest's name, and class year you are representing. Sorry but there is one set price for the reunion whether you attend one activity or all. Unfortunately in the past, we have had people to try to sneak in without paying or thinking they do not need to pay if they only drop in to say hi. This will not happen this year. To walk in the door you must be on the paid guest list. Don't forget to get your registration fee in by June 15th. 


If you have special needs, please let a committee member know in advance so arrangements can be made. 


For those that enjoy golf or would just like to mingle, the Welch-Gary Barrel Bowl Charity Golf Tournament will be held on the Thursday prior to our reunion.  You may contact Sam Baker for information. 


We are hoping for a record turnout so we are challenging everyone reading this post to contact at least five classmates to encourage them to attend. Someone you are really wanting to see may not have Facebook or know about the reunion so get busy contacting your classmates.
