I never had the honor of meeting the Master Chief but had heard of him. He was one of the legends.

Yep... I copied the wrong link, but since James provided it earlier I just thought I'd leave the photo link of George Pfeiffer up.

Van was one for the ages. It was a great honor to work for and with him. His trademark green fatigues help earn him the affectionate handle of "truckie" while on watch by the junior personnel.

I'll never forget sharing a beer with him and some newfie friends out in Placntia. When Van laughed the whole world laughed with him. He will be missed.
