Like would like to see the trade deadline be the same as the day we put in our keepers. I don't care which moves, but I can't think of any advantage of "deadtime" between the two.

The reason it is this way, as commissioner, I want one thing over before another begins. I like the gap here, owners can then start concentrating on their (as well as other owners) keepers without the thought of more trades.
The trading period runs for 10 weeks, I feel that is plenty long enough to get whatever trades in that you have in mind.
