Re: Quote game

Very good, both of you! And Sib, the title of the Nadia Donner episode is "Deadly State of Mind."

I'm impressed by your knowledge. I like Melville, too! But my favorite of these is #4. In spite of all the remarks about the "tripe" Mallory wrote, I've always thought his last work sounded like a book worth reading.

Re: Quote game

Of course! I always get those two episode titles mixed up: "Deadly State of Mind"/"Mind over Mayhem" - it's the "mind" part... the other two I always confuse are "Negative Reaction" and "Double Exposure"! ... oh and I always play "The Deadliest Match" when I mean to play "The Most Crucial Game", probably because in the UK a game of football is called a "match" rather than a "game".

Re: Quote game

To add to the confusion, there's also the famous suspense story THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME.

Re: Quote game

How about these?

"The problem is you're getting your racket back a little late."

"I could still get into it."

"Now be a good boy and vanish."

Re: Quote game

The racket one is from Blueprint for Murder.

Re: Quote game

the vanish one is Myrna Loy to the excitable trumpeter in "Etude in Black".

Re: Quote game

I had the feeling "I could still get into it" would be the hardest one to find. It is actually the conclusion of a sentence within the line. Keep guessing. Great work so far.

Re: Quote game

I might be way off here... but is that when Columbo is trying to pretend he can't play golf while interviewing the golf instructor in Death Lends A Hand?

Re: Quote game

Would it be referring to the tux in "No Time to Die" when he was talking to that woman at the table, reminiscing about how he danced with Mrs. Columbo to Paul Scibelli and his orchestra?

Re: Quote game

Think Season 1. "I could still get into it".

Re: Quote game

Is it Ray Flemming asking Carol to get into an old dress from their honeymoon and she says, "I could still get into it" in Prescription?

This is a puzzler!

Re: Quote game

Eddie Albert in Dead Weight?

Re: Quote game

Well done! Eddie Albert in "Dead Weight" indeed! "Glad to be able to tell you I could still get into it." Great line.

Re: Quote game

Thanks, those are always fun. The more obscure the better!!
