Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Tonight's game

Thought the team started well (enthusiastically), Stoney had a superb first half but must've burnt himself out. Muir was getting pelters for making a couple of big mistakes but reckon his workrate goes unnoticed. Hislop played really well for the first hour - winning headers, holding up the ball well, showing a good touch, even saw a burst of pace (I think) in the first half from him. Crawford had a good game. Although Ovvy didn't play too badly, he was far too narrow all game (looked like he was being told to play there). Durie's been off the boil for a wee while now - don't know what's got into him, We've got problems at full back. Broony never comes to take a cross. Smarty, who's usually unbeatable in the air, got beat time and time again in the air - mostly by Deuchar. Sloan is a quality player and would always be one of the first names down for me but there was a huge hole in the midfield (again) all game. He needs someone alongside him to win headers, tackle, etc. L L O Y D Y O U N G - not just 15 minutes from the end of a game when he's been freezing his bollocks off on the bench for 75 minutes.

Lost the game in midfield for me. Then again, Livi look quality. They've got quality players in every position and are simply better than us. Best team in that league by some way for me. You add Deuchar to that and we're in trouble. They should've had 2 in the first half, our penalty was never a penalty and we never tested their keeper all game.

We need a left back, another centre back and Lloyd Young in midfield from the start alongside Sloan.

Your best players improve your team (and midfield)

Re: Tonight's game

Someone using my name?? Not on!! Who writes in capitals these days??

Re: Tonight's game

sorry a left the caps on doggy

Re: Tonight's game

Great result for Dumbarton tonight. Really hope Robbo changes it for Saturday. That is a MUST win for either end of the table!!

Re: Tonight's game

Robbo got this one horribly wrong in my opinion. Both full backs were clearly told to tuck inside which left far too much room for Livvy's wingers. One thing Deuchar has always done well throughout his career is being feckin good in the air so you MUST cut out the supply but instead we almost put our hands out and said 'on you go!'
We looked sluggish and it's a definite pity we had our first league game in a long time against an excellent Livingston side as in fairness if we'd lost 7-2 we couldn't have complained.
Zero mobility up front will cost us this season and as for 'James' Hamilton well it could be 'Hissy 2' although we'll give him a fair shot.
Last but not least - Bobby Linn, dear dear with their 3rd goal, a complete shocker.

(Didn't know what post to put this on!!)

Re: Tonight's game

Let's take it on the chin and move on!.
Beaten by a better (full time, with their own all weather training park) team, who were always bookies favourites for promotion - and that was before KK!.

Our boys have struggled too get any training facilities for weeks, travelling to Edinburgh, Dundee but mostly no team training at all some weeks.
That has to tell!
We couldn't have had two much worse opposition teams to contend with than the last two games.
No disaster but now it begins - Saturday is a HUGE must win.

Having said that - For the second game in a row we got murdered down our left hand side and murdered when the inevitable crosses came in.
Made Conway look like a world beater.
So Left back and strong experienced CH really is a must (high scoring, high conceding side signs two strikers?!)

I actually didn't think midfield was too bad, they just found our weak spot and played around it down the sides (left especially), if any criticism a few too many backwards/sideways/ and a couple (no more - get off players backs!) misplaced passes trying to go forward.

Keep the faith. We're going to do Dumbarton some serious damage on Saturday!

There was no midfield though? Again.

Re: Tonight's game

Anyone got a link about the east fife game in the courier?

Re: Tonight's game

It was rather bizarre this morning in the online Courier.

They had a photo from the game but no match report!
