Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Hi there,

Just a word to the wise that the SFL rules for filming the games state that the highlights are only to be shown via the (particular) clubs official website and not an external hosting site ie YouTube, Vimeo etc.

Just in case someone pulls you up about it.

Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for the info. Can you point me in the direction of the official rules so i can take appropriate action?

Many thanks

Re: East Fife 2-4 Livingston - Tuesday 18th January 2011

Hi Andy,

For the life of me I can't find the copy I got at the start of this season.

The lad David Thomson at the SFL would be able to clarify what the rules are and would likely be happy to get a copy to both you and East Fife.

It covers things many things but in the main it's all about any/all footage that's taken at SFL games remaining SFL property and as such it shouldn't be uploaded to any external hsoting sites where it can be ripped/downloaded easily if someone so desired.

I realise that this can probably be done from most web sites if someone really had the inclination to do so but not using (certainly) YouTube and (if I remember correctly) Vimeo and similar external hosting sites was a major part of being allowed to/given permission to record footage in the first place.

I did try to get them (SFL) to set up a sort of filming messageboard where all the folk who film the games could have a natter and share what works and what doesn't etc as I'm sure things like this would get discussed and things resolved pretty quickly, but the SFL wheels move slowly sometimes so that's not happened to date.

Anyway, sorry for banging on! If you (or someone at the club) were to call David Thomson I'm positive he'll clarify the situation for you.

The main thing is that you're doing a great job in filming the highlights and he'll obviously want you to keep doing so. If he can help you to do that within the guidelines they've laid down then he will.

Cheers,
