Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Proxy Questions for SC/Chairmen meeting

As i am away and not able to attend, i would like to put a few questions to Sid through the AFTN media.

1. Do you see fulltime football as a long term goal? We all now know that survival in the next higher league is not possible as a part time club. Has a costing been done [talking with other full time clubs] been done in the past? If the costs are out of reach, what are they? If the fans knew the budget, maybe we could fundraise for the particular target that is required?

2. Obviously, the proposed new stadium.

3. The players fund. I have a proposal to increase the amount of money coming in. Normally i would have presented this one privately, but i need to see reaction and feedback first. Go ahead, shoot me.

It might seem a bit unusual but here goes anyway.
Player fund agents required!!
If we can have a number of fans willing to act as agents, proper ID cards with Photo and authorised by East Fife to talk to their family, friends and work mates to contribute to the players fund by DD for any amount per month, minimum 5 pounds.
After the first two payments are received by the club from the bank, those two payments are given to the Agent as commission. The club then will obviously receive DD from that point onwards. If an Agent can manage to sign up ten [or more]people then that is a worthwhile effort if they received a minimum of 100 pounds.
Some of the persons that have signed up may want to be Agents as well to be able to make some extra money.
Ofcourse there will be drop outs as the months go on etc, but that is to be expected.

4. Please repair our beautiful historical photos that are posted on the stairs. If you dont want them, ill take them!!

Re: Proxy Questions for SC/Chairmen meeting

Good idea about the pictures. Isn`t their a supporter who has a framing business in Wellesley Road?
Why doesn`t he do it for cost and get some free advertising into the bargain?

Re: Proxy Questions for SC/Chairmen meeting

That's my cousin Derek, Taylor Frames is the name of the business.

Re: Proxy Questions for SC/Chairmen meeting

So for us exiles, what happened at the meeting last night?

Was it recorded at all?

If anyone could email me a summary for me to put in the AFTN Blog then that would be braw.

Re: Proxy Questions for SC/Chairmen meeting

Aye Gof. Strange that no input yet.

Re: Proxy Questions for SC/Chairmen meeting

I took hunners of notes but left them at home. I'll summarise later this afternoon.

A lot of it was to do with finances, supporters help needed as volunteers, shares ownership issues and the possibility of Samantha Twigg being a director in the near future, I kid you not, it was mentioned by Sid on more than one occasion.

Re: Proxy Questions for SC/Chairmen meeting

Samantha Twigg? Do me a favour love..

Re: Proxy Questions for SC/Chairmen meeting

Fifeyboab - your questions were asked. In short, we will not go full time - or even consider it. I took that to be due simply to the amount of money required. Sid felt that there would be quite a few First Div teams that would become part time at the end of this season, as everyone is finding it tough. John Barclay spoke about your agent idea and there was quite a bit of positive comment surrounding that.

Quite a lot of ground was covered and others will talk about their highlights. Thought it was a very good meeting and thanks to Sid, the Board and everyone who turned up for making it just that.

Hope everyone took something from the meeting. There are certainly a few things that will become the agenda items at next Thursday's Supporters Club Meeting.

If you think it is worth repeating, then please let any member of the SC Committee and we'll invite Sid again. Thanks again to all those who attended.

I don't think that Sid used the word "near" when he spoke of Samantha Twigg becoming a Director of the Club in the future. She will have completed her university education and gained some business experience before considering such a move.

Steady on Dave. She'll need to complete Nursery School before thinking about University.

Re: Proxy Questions for SC/Chairmen meeting

Think s-pat explained that he didn't have his notes did he not Dave?

I think even to think of having the twiglet in charge at any point in the future is interesting. Shes obviously taken the fife to her heart eh? Never misses a game, fundraising and pumping in the cash to the club. Great. Mind you, it'll all be up to the fans to pump the cash in no doubt.

What on earth is this about, Dave? Shares were put in Samantha Twigg's name when she was barely school age. She's now 13. She has no interest in East Fife, she probably has no interest in football, and as far as we know she has never been at an East Fife game. We have no idea what her career is going to be, or if she is going to be of any use to a football club. And yet Sid Collumbine says she may well become a director of the club! WHY? WHY ARE THE BOARD OF EAST FIFE BEHOLDEN TO A THIRTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL? WHY IS A CHILD WITH NO INTEREST IN FOOTBALL OR EAST FIFE, BEING LINED UP FOR A SEAT ON THE BOARD?

You are a lifelong East Fife supporter who now has the privilege of being a director, someone who has always known what is best for the club, someone who took a brave stand when Derrick Brown was harming the club. Why are you going along with this sham?

Re: Proxy Questions for SC/Chairmen meeting

Don't think there is any mileage in not working with the present board at the moment. What do you realistically expect Dave to do? The shareholding situation is out of our hands for the time being. Mr Collumbine is someone that the trust can do business with. Let's continue to do business.
It's not an ideal scenario but we have made a lot of progress since we chased DB out.

Re: Proxy Questions for SC/Chairmen meeting

Does anybody believe that Delia Smith was a committed Norwich City supporter as a small girl?

If Samantha Twigg has been gifted shares in East Fife, who cares really? Is there any one of us, if gifted shares, who would knock them back and say no to them? What if you were gifted say Chelsea shares, would you knock them back? The answer of course is NO!

If Samantha Twigg desires to be a director of East Fife in the future and she has the means to become one, then that is for her to choose, and not anybody else! As long as the club is privately owned then that is the reality!

Please consider this - if she wants to become a director, then would that not suggest she has an interest in the club? She has the shares, so it won't make much odds whether she is a director or not really, would it?

Re: Proxy Questions for SC/Chairmen meeting

In line with tradition at East Fife there would of course be a fair and open vote as to whether Miss Twigg was elected to the board.
Having distant friends with a 50%+ shareholding will not guarantee automatic selection.

Are you actually being serious? People might care at WHO gifted her those shares (Rankine), why Sid has control over them - giving him over 50% majority control (which means any major East Fife decision he/they make can go ahead unchallenged.

That's why people care - because it's not transparent. If you believe the 'Twigg' in the collective shareholding with Sid doesn't refer to Samantha as Sid claims, then you must be off your head.

It's got nothing to do with Delia Smith.

Your argument is broken beyond repair, but credit to you for using your real name, Fanny.
