Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Whats the score and team?

Re: Score?

5-1 to Hearts so far. Hislop scored ............................an own goal apparently.

Linn got ours.

Re: Score?

Cheers. Meanwhile we are bottom of the league now.

Re: Score?

Dumbarton are playing loads of youngsters. Winning 3-2 now. I reckon we should give our young ones a chance. Whats happened to Cargy?

Re: Score?

Cargill played first half today. One good chance but we were pinned back most of the game. Fagan had a run out and looked okay.

Re: Score?

I take it they had a strong team out?

Re: Score?

Fagan played well when he came on and his pass for Linns goal was superb.

Re: Score?

anyone know who the trialist (defender) was...

Re: Score?

anyone know who the trialist (defender) was...

It was me Toj. After helping the club win the Scottish Cup in 38, Robbo asked me to come back and help sort things out at the back.

Re: Score?

Thought we did not bad against a very good, young and fit Hearts side.
What a player that Templeton is!
We didn't really cause them much of a threat but I'm sure getting the 90 minutes under the belt is all that matters really.

Re: Score?

Nonsense, what matters is that we start to play like a team who might, just might, be capable of a avoiding relegation. Another morale sapping thumping by a bunch of kids is not going to help with this.

The lack of match practice crap will not wash any more and six points from the next two matches must be taken

Re: Score?

What as the team and score please?

Re: Score?

Starting Line Up
Lyness
Durie Mcogwan Ovenstone McCulloch
Young Muir Sloan Cargill
Hislop Linn

Weir for Cargill at HT
other subs included Brown Smart Brewster, Fagan, Sean Murdoch
ScorerS
East Fife - Linn at 5-0 down
Hearts - Templeton, Mole, Hislop (og) Glen Thomson

Re: Score?

Hope that was a strong Hearts team. That was nearly our first eleven by the looks of it.

Re: Score?

Heard today that Weir is going back to Oz and that was his last game. If that is true, why was he signed in the first place and why did he get half a game today ? Surely today should have been about us getting organised for the very important league games coming up, so playing a player who won't be available is not the best idea. Wouldn't mind seeing a few of the Hearts players joining us on loan - Mole, Glen etc. Was Stoney & Hammy injured ?

Re: Score?

It was a strong hearts site which Billy Brown took charge of which should suggests it was no "kids" team. The guy Stevenson that scored against Rangers played as did Templeton , Driver and a few other first teamers. Also Mikey Deland at left back(dont know why we couldnt have kept him on we could have done with him recently) Stoney looked to have taken a knock at Forfar and was still limping a wee bit today when I saw him before the game.Mark McCulloch was fairly solid again and looks to be a good organiser. Div was best player for us today I thought. Pish score but let no get carried away it was a friendly.

Re: Score?

im sure we had 2 trialists playing in second half the number 15/19 there was a mix up with the numbers of subs. we used 8 but only seven was listed on the teamsheet and there squad numbers was wrong, the 2 trialists played in defence.but have no idea who they were.

Driver didn`t play as he had food poisoning.

Re: Score?

how was that our 1st team?????

Re: Score?

It was 8/11ths of our first team.

Only the keeper, Young and Cargill from Robbo's usual starting XI. Eight current first team starters. I'd agree that's nearly our first team.

And....?

Re: Score?

and what ?

It was in answer to, "how was that our 1st team?????"

After it was said that it was nearly our first team yesterday.

Re: Score?

crawford wasnt playing or big jim

Re: Score?

Yeah, as I say, it was indeed nearly our first team. Crawford doesn't play for East Fife, by the way.

Aw right, thanks for that. So what would it be if only 7/11ths were playing? - Nearly NOT be our first team?

Re: Score?

Only Jim Hamilton and Craig Johnstone missing from the players available. Thought Lloyd Young and Stuart Cargill would be bursting a gut to show they would be worth regaining a starting place, but neither impressed. Pretty flat performance from everyone, but these two had extra incentive to prove their case.

Do you ever have anything relevant to contribute Jocky?

What's that got to do with yesterday ?

Did he play Young on the right?

Re: Score?

Lloyd Young was totally anonymous yesterday[playing wide right].Given the dreadful team display,"anonymous" would be rated one of the better performances.
Thought Mcculloch was steady,Fagan did well when he came on,
and Bobby Linn showed that he and the team are better when he plays wide.
We better hope Bobby Linn stays fit.

Re: Score?

Needs to be in the middle. Box-to-box where he's never anonymous.

I was directly answering anon's question (with regards to the stength of yesterday's team). But then, you know that.

Re: Score?

Jocky, I think I speak on behalf of all AFTN posters when I say that you are a bit of a fanny, simple!! You never have anything worthwhile to say and you never give your own opinions, only to moan about other peoples.

Don't think you are qualified to speak on behalf of all posters. Jocky tends to respond to negative posts of which there are many. You don't have to agree with him but there is no call for gratuitous abuse.
