Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

When are we going to get a spellchecker it is shocking, every week there are still shocking spelling mistakes.

Re: Programmes

Apologies if spelling mistakes are spoiling your enjoyment of the programme. You could have made our job a lot easier if you had told us that the revolutionary new spellchecker STFACL (Spot The Full-stop And Capital Letter)is now available. Unfortunately even STFACL does not spot every spelling mistake.

"ffs now we are a one man team,F O,
Robbo's got more than a one man team we have other players and we will be up there in the play offs if the players give a toss we dont have to worry about staying up if some players can keep up their consistancy there is no problem ,glad to see that hissy is not out too long a wee change here and there and we will be back to our winning ways,I thought robbo's biggest mistake was not playing stoney from the start on tuesday, think stoney did not play well on the astro but I have no worries about him for the rest of the season he is one of our main players, the team I would like to see on sat is"

Re: Programmes

It did not spoil my reading but surely we can spell our own players names,I did not know that we had 2 new players called duie and dune.its not like calling Hislop(hissy) or Johnstone(stoney).we get enough bad spelling from the BBC tv and website with Sloan being called floan every week he scores.

Re: Programmes

The programme is still excellent but I think the spelling of Kevin "Heggarty" (sic) lets the publication down. Someone with knowledge of the club's history would spot that at a blink of an eye. Of course it could have been a printer's error. There were a few mistakes surrounding former players' names in the last publication. Getting the right person to look at the copy before going to print should remedy these errors.

Re: Programmes

We can always do better and will tighten up but at least it's not as bad as Aris Salonika v Man City's programme on Tuesday:

Re: Programmes

just a wee note - Scott Crabbe is still on the staff list in the programme. Needs to be replaced by Gordon Durie obviously

Re: Programmes

The programme is a really cracking read.

However, sometimes the staples are not completely in line - that does make me angry and it really is a shame as, in the old days when we had no staples, there were less important issues that made me angry.

Re: Programmes

Can I say I find the matchday programme enjoyable, but find it is a bit on the large side! It will not slip into my coat pocket without me folding it over, causing me some discomfort when i sit down to enjoy the game. I have taken a programme along with me to M & S,when trying on a possible replacement. However to my dismay the pocket size was too small for the programme. Can't something be done here ?

Re: Programmes

What really makes me angry is that thousands of readers have complained about both size and staples but we are governed by EU regulations. Decisions on size staple position were made on the same day as the Court of Human Rights made their decision on prisoners having the right to vote. It makes us proud that our readers are not taking this lying down but are revolting.

Re: Programmes

"Hey you, standing there, what you got to stare at?
I'm not shy of your beady little eye that views me like some mishap
Cackling laughter behind your hand, you're so funny, you're so bland
Here's a thing you can't understand: You are just a programme
You're a programme, you're a programme"

Re: Programmes

The prog is a very good read, but there aren't many articles on hobbies like train spotting, stamp collecting or lino bashing.

That is really "shocking".

Come on Editor get this sorted and more articles on Boabby Linn's shorts too.

Re: Programmes

I'll tell you what is shocking 'Another moaning git' the hobbies that you suggest might be of interest in the programme thats what ! Are you some sexist moron stuck in the 70's. What about some articles on creative cross-stitch or flower arranging for us girls. Editor please take note or see me in Strasbourg. I'm going down to Ayr so anyone with anything to say ,say it too my face if your man enough. You wont miss me ,big hair and ginger teeth.

Re: Programmes

The only proper way to resolve issues of this magnitude is to sack the board.

If that includes you too, Eugene, I'd happily help start up a campaign.
