Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Team for tomorrow?

GK - Brown

RB - Macgowan
CB - Smart
CB - Ovy
LB - McCulloch

RM - Linn
CM - Div
CM - Young
LM - Stoney

FW - Hislop
FW - Park or Cargill

Subs -
Lyness
Durie
Hamilton
Fagan
Weir (if he is still with us)?

What do you reckon? I'd rather have an out and out young striker like Byrne up front, but we don't have one at present unfortunately! At least Park or Cargill would add much needed pace hopefully.

I thought McGowan was solid at right back in his first game for us and would be more effective playing there. Stopping the opponents on the wings would take pressure off the central defenders, by minimising crosses which we can't seem to handle too well!

Re: Team for tomorrow?

I'd go

Brown
Durie - McGowan - Smart - Ovenstone - McCulloch
Muir - Young - Park
Linn Johnstone

Re: Team for tomorrow?

Brown
Durie Smart McGowan Muir McCulloch

Young Fagan Park

Linn

Hislop

Re: Team for tomorrow?

Brown
Durie Smart Ovy McCulloch
McGowan
Young Div Stoney
Linn Park

McGowan holding could be pretty effective I think. Although Park isn't a striker he wouldn't do any worse job than what we have just now, could maybe work with Linn playing slightly off him aswel.

2-1 East Fife

Re: Team for tomorrow?

I reckon:

Captain Flack

Pugh Pugh Barney McGrew Cuthbert

Dibble Grubb

Pc McGarry (number 452) Mrs Honeyman (Graham's mum) Windy Miller & Mr Carraway the fishmonger

A match for anyone I think, provided Brechin are without their top strike force of Postman Pat (and his black and white cat). Otherwise it's cutains for us..

Re: Team for tomorrow?

How about Bertie Miller instead of Windy Miller?

Re: Team for tomorrow?

Do'nt want to add to the depression but if you believe what the BBC says :
East Fife v Brechin City

East Fife manager John Robertson may have to call on youth players for the Second Division meeting with Brechin.

Robertson is without Robert Sloan, Mark McCulloch, Steven Hislop and Stevie Campbell due to injury.

Brechin's Paul McLean is banned but fellow defender Ewan Moyes may feature if he recovers from a virus in time.

Gerry McLauchlan and Rory McAllister return from suspension but injured midfielder Charlie King remains on the sidelines for Jim Weir's side.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

East Fife manager John Robertson:
"I will need to bring in a couple of kids which it is not ideal for the visit of a strong Brechin side, but come three o'clock on Saturday we will be nice and positive and looking for the three points.

"You can never relax in this league and it has been one step forward and one back for East Fife during most of this season.

"Hopefully we can make a step forward against Brechin and then do the same against Ayr in midweek and move up the table."

Brechin City manager Jim Weir:
"I have asked the players to show that we are up for the challenge of chasing Livingston all the way by winning at East Fife.

"That will set us up really nicely for meeting Gary Bollan's side on Tuesday."

Well I suppose as underdogs the supporters will have their part to play.
