There are about 475 B& B places across the country that offer a free night for a vet and guest on 10/10 each year, with breakfast the following mornig on vets day. most of thes inns are pretty classy places and the people running them are quite cordial and eager to learn of our experiences.

Linda and I stayed at a wonderful in at Manchester, Vt last year. This year we are going to a place in Proctorsville, Vt and they are very excited about having us.

Everything is free, but we usually leave an appropriate room and breakfast tip,- as well as provide them with a modest gift which they may choose to display or otherwise use in their business.

These rooms go rather fast, and it may be too late to book one now (there are a few left)- best time to book would be early - mid sept. Most of the ones in the New England area are quit quaint,but modernized. Lots of activities in the surrounding areas as well. Just type in B&B's for Vets - or Better Way to Stay (on google) - you can view all those offered in any state. Well worth it !!!

Dates in the above post are incorrect. The free overnight stay is on Nov 10th, 2011 with the free breakfast on Veteran's Day 11/11/2011. Sorry for the confusion.
