Funny that you mentioned the camps. I was there yesterday and it was very sad. During my first tour (70-72) I actually lived at the camps for almost a year. I was one of two active duty who lived there. I am not sure what the final disposition of the camps. At one point they were going to be kept as part of the PEP billets in Gander. Afterwards, I heard that they were turned over to the Canadian government, but there was a sign indicating it was still US property. To the best of my knowledge, Ron Cooper works for the US and is the on-site POC. All of the housing and Q were torn down and some of it has been turned into an RV park. OH Well, time waits for no one.
