I have been looking at Google Earth for a while and never came across any overheads of Polyarny. But, what to my wondering eyes did appear? A complete satellite overhead view of the base. The resolution isn't great but it sure answers a number of questions.
The overheads of Petro have been on the site for years.
During my tour at FOSIC PAC in 84-86, I became very familiar with how overhead works and got to look at many photos myself. Quite the education in intelligence sources. Looking back on my time in SOSUS/IUSS, I strongly believe it would have benefited Watch Officers and senior enlisted to have had some basic training in the other intel sources relevant to our profession.
