In Honor of Fathers Around the World
Just as many mothers had to step in and assume a dual parental role with their children, many fathers had to step up to the plate and do the same. Father's Day celebrates the joys of fatherhood and male parenting.
Father's Day was founded in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd. Her father, Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart was a single parent who raised his six children in Spokane, Washington. The celebration of Father's Day is observed in the United States and many other countries on the third Sunday in June.
To all fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles, brothers, Godfathers, teachers and missionary leaders who stepped in to be a positive father figure or to mentor of children who needed such paternal guidance, thank you! For those whose fathers or the prominent male figures in their lives who passed away, in their memory make a commitment to be a strong, positive influence to the children in your lives.
