The passing of my favorite Chaplain, RADM Byron Holderby, brought tears to my eyes this morning. This is a major loss to our IUSS Family. What a wonderfully warm, wise, and gentle man. Our prayers and love reach out to Chaplain Holderby's beloved Family, Friends, and Shipmates.
So sorry to hear of Adm. Holderby's passing. He was the chaplin at Brawdy when I was commissioned and he and Barbara made my wife and I feel very welcome to the officer community. I also have fond memories of them at the various "Gourmet Club" events. He was truly a great man and epitomized the phrase "An officer and a gentlemen". He will be sorrily missed.
