The reference to the Pt. Sur submarine legend was interesting. I remember driving down to the River Inn in Big Sur (1971-73 time period) and hearing the stories OTs had made up about what we did at the base to cover up what we really did. Along with having missiles in the wooden water tanks up on the hill, the sub story was also circulating back then. (There were big underground doors that opened to the ocean, the subs came in, we pumped out the water, and then went down in an elevator to work on them!) We did have an imagination back then! ;-)
