Corn on the cob without the silk in your teeth, it works.

If you love fresh corn on the cob, try this.
Chuck

I tried this tonight with FRESH Florida corn. I first cut off the excess
corn silk that poked out the end with kitchen sheers. I wrapped both ears
with the wet paper towels as stated below. Set the microwave for 4 minutes
and turned them over at about half way. I choose to wrap them in Heavy Duty
foil as soon as they came out of the microwave. After 5 minutes I unwrapped
them and cut off the stalk end right at the base of the corn sacrificing a
bit of the kernels. I then held it by the tip of the other end and watched
it slide out of the husks leaving the silk behind. I was amazed. It really
worked. Try it.

FRESH CORN ON THE COB (MICROWAVE)

Cook fresh corn on the cob in microwave with husks and silk intact. They
will cook in their own natural moisture.

Place on dampened paper towel. Turn ears over and rearrange after 1/2
cooking time.

Cooking Timetable:

1 ear - 1 1/2 minutes 2 ears - 3 to 4 minutes 3 ears - 5 to 6 minutes 4
ears - 7 to 8 minutes 6 ears - 8 to 9 minutes.

When ears are hot to the touch, remove and wrap in kitchen towel or foil.

Let stand at least 5 minutes. Remove husks and silk (which is easier than
when cold) and serve.

Serve with melted butter.

Re: Corn on the cob without the silk in your teeth, it works.

Chuck -

We heard of this last spring and tried this method this past summer. Used slightly different time (4 minutes per ear, but did not wrap in wet paper towels, just left them in their husks). Worked perfectly. No need to husk the corn, no corn silk, etc. Probably will NEVER cook corn on the cob any other way again.

However, as with many things, they may do a study and find that microwave ovens are a cause of some types of cancer - and no one will want to cook anything in them. I won't have to worry about that though, cause I'm too old to be concerned about anything killing me. We all go sooner or later, of one cause or another anyway.

Cheers............Dee
