Nostalga

Just came across an interesting song from 1956 by Jim Lowe, its title " Green Door ".
One could possibly draw a few parallels from its lyrics. I found it on You Tube.
Only thing I couldn't figure out was who Joe was ?

Re: Nostalga

Here's the lyrics....

Midnight, one more night without sleeping,
Watching till the morning comes creeping.
Green door, what's that secret you're keeping?

There's an old piano
And they play it hot behind the green door;
Don't know what they're doing
But they laugh a lot behind the green door.
Wish they'd let me in
So I could find out what's behind the green door.

Knocked once, tried to tell them I'd been there;
Door slammed, hospitality's thin there.
Wonder just what's going on in there.

Saw an eyeball peeping
Through a smoky cloud behind the green door;
When I said "Joe sent me"
Someone laughed out loud behind the green door.
All I want to do
Is join the happy crowd behind the green door.

Midnight, one more night without sleeping,
Watching till the morning comes creeping.
Green door, what's that secret you're keeping?

Green door what's that secret you're keeping?

Green door!

Re: Nostalga

An amazing amount of parallels can be drawn from that little ditty.
I saw a "Sab Alert" in the words.
Anyone else willing to take a shot?

Re: Nostalga

I would like to break this down for everyone:

Saw an eyeball peeping
Through a smoky cloud behind the green door;
When I said "Joe sent me"
Someone laughed out loud behind the green door.
All I want to do
Is join the happy crowd behind the green door.

(The above is simple) "Eye Intagration" and "Gram Smoke before the vacuum system".

Midnight, one more night without sleeping,
Watching till the morning comes creeping.
Green door, what's that secret you're keeping?

"Mid-watch with very bad annotation rolled up".

There's an old piano
And they play it hot behind the green door;
Don't know what they're doing
But they laugh a lot behind the green door.
Wish they'd let me in
So I could find out what's behind the green door.

"That could only be GW and his forced Honky-Tonk music, "my watch my music"'

Knocked once, tried to tell them I'd been there;
Door slammed, hospitality's thin there.
Wonder just what's going on in there.

That must be the "ORI team trying to get in through the cypher lock door in a Sabotage Alert Drill."

Re: Nostalga

Very nice Chuck I'm still laughing. Long time no see.

Re: Nostalga & a note for Jim

Jim Conklin -

Now, that's a voice from the past!

Is this the same Jim Conklin that I used to go fishing with in BDA? If so, do you remember when we went out one time in that rickety old, top heavy, tub of a boat you had (with no reverse on the engine), had 4-6 foot swells and out of sight of land, couldn't get the anchor to break loose? I swore you were trying to make shark bait of me!

Where have you been and what have you been doing all these years?

Drop me a line via email and let's catch up on some things.

And for you Chuck...............what's wrong with honky tonk piano?

Re: Nostalga & a note for Jim

Now Dee, I bet you did not know that I owned half of that yellow and white, Bermudian fishing boat. Jim and I and probably a couple of others sanded and replaced wood from the keel to the cabin before we took it out. One outing with Karl Gibbons (God rest his soul)me and Jim maybe someone else that I can't recall caught over 40-50 lbs of fillets and brought them directly to Karls back yard and had a fish fry. You could not beat fresh. And Dee remember I liked rock an roll and did not care for Sh-tK-----g. Music but had no choice.
