Re: Loss of CWO4 Walt Olkowski

Walt has many friends throughout the SOSUS and IUSS community which he served honorably while in the U. S. Navy. We are all saddened by news of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers and with Walt's family at this very difficult time. May memories of happier days help ease their pain. Walt will be missed by all of us. - Ed Smock

Re: Loss of CWO4 Walt Olkowski

Sad news indeed! Walt was a great shipmate and true professional. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers to his family.

Re: Loss of CWO4 Walt Olkowski

I was stationed with him and remember him as being a professional with a very pleasant way which made working with him equally pleasant. I believe this was at COSL in Norfolk (1979). He, myself, and Tom Ueker went fishing together. Rest in peace Walt.

Re: Loss of CWO4 Walt Olkowski

I went through TASS factory school in Shadyside, MD with Walt back in '73 when I was an OT3. Walt did his best to keep us all in line in a "less than military" atmosphere (we are all staying in a motel and drawing per diem) with the closest base being Annapolis.
