Re: Loss of another great shipmate

That's very sad news. I can't recall where we were stationed together (Kef?) but Mike was indeed a superb OT and person. Heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
John, any idea of when and where Mike passed away?

Re: Loss of another great shipmate

Randy,
Mike was in the Virginia Beach area and he passed away on the 26th of this month after a battle with lung cancer. There is a viewing tomorrow (Friday) from 6 - 7:30pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home on South Battlefield Blvd. in Chesapeake. A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday at 11am at the community church of Chesapeake.

Re: Loss of another great shipmate

Thanks, John. It's awful seeing our Navy kin pass...

Re: Loss of another great shipmate

Randy,
Since our community was as small as it was, it's like losing a family member every time you hear of another. Very sad. Way too many have died from cancer as well. I have always wondered if there is any connection. Anyway, hope all is well with you, your lovely bride and the rest of your family.

Re: Loss of another great shipmate

I served with Mike in Hatteras 77-80, He was a real professional even as a third class...Sorry to hear this news, and so young too.

Re: Loss of another great shipmate

I remember Mike and he was a fine OT and he had a wonderful demeaner that made people instantly like him. He will be missed.

Re: Loss of another great shipmate

A really good person, Mike will be missed.
