It is that time once again. I am trying to do some site clean up and we have a few unidentified photos that have been uploaded that I need your help with.
Some of these were uploaded with titles but not enough information for me to put them in the proper folder in the photo album.
The main information needed is where they were taken, what Navfac are they associated with. Then if it is people, who are they and when were they taken. Then any other information that helps users figure out what they are looking at.
I would just label them myself but any of you who remember me might remember that I had an extremely sarcastic sense of humor, some might even say I was caustic. As I have aged, that has not gotten any better, so we probably don't want me to do that. ;p
So here is a list of the photos. If there is a comment alongside the photo then that is the info that was provided when it was uploaded. If the comment is in parentheses then it is my guess of what the photo might be.
Thank you in advance for any and all assistance you can provide.

I was looking through the history to see if I could identify what the pics labeled as 1965 might be.
Nothing opened in 1965 unfortunately but it appears that Kef opened in 1966?
So, are those pictures from when they were putting Kef together?
I was only stationed at Key West, Bermuda, Centerville and Hatteras. I visited Dam-neck and can say that those pictures are not any of those but that is the best I can do.
Could #7 possibly be Midway. Never stationed at the Navfac but was there in the early 60s at the AUW compound and it also was very near the runway. But then every thing on the island was near the runway. That is my only guess.
Pictures 1 and 2 were taken around 1989-1990 in Hawaii during one of the Paintball Challenges at NOPF Ford Island. The guy wearing the flight suit in Pictures 1 and 2 was the NOPF Ford Island XO. While working at PMS 485 in early 2000's I saw copies of pictures 8-16 and 18 in installation history book for Navfac Kef.
Russ, The black and white pics (#11 - 18) are all of NAVFAC Keflavik's construction. 1965 is the date on the back of the official photos. Yes, that's a cable ship off shore. However, there is no confirmation on any of the names of individuals pictured in those photos. The Rear Admiral is a staff officer and not an operational Line officer. Note the white flag with blue stars. Seabee inspecting final construction?
Not sure but I believe photo #6 was taken at NAVFAC Bermuda (note construction/color and texture of building). The young man to the left looks like Johnny Ellis.
Nice compliment Jim but its not me. In those days, I would have had a cigarette in one hand and depending on the time of day, a cup or coffee or a beer in the other.
I'm afraid I can't be of any help on any of the pics.
I did not include it originally because it is not from the same time. It has been moved to the Kef album and labeled as sometime and someone at NAVFAC Keflavik.
Sorry I did not get back sooner but my basement where I got my records has been torn up due to da boss renovating everything. Anyway. Finally found the booklet put out for the 50th reunion with pictures of all the NAVFACs and number 7 is indeed Midway. As stated earlier, never at the Navfac but spent my year at the AUW compound which also was on a small strip of land between runway and ocean. Frog
