The Battle to Preserve the Midway Islands

First we had Adak - now we have Midway.

A bit lengthy but this does a good job of showing what has occurred on Midway Island subsequent to the USFWS taking over administratration of the island.

I was never stationed there, but that Video made me sick. To think that they could be that uncaring about our history, not to mention wasting millions of our tax dollars, beggars belief!

Greg,

The US Fish and Wildlife Service treats places like Midway Island as their own private fiefdoms and appear to operate with little or no "adult" oversight from the Dept of the Interior.

Here's a link to their Midway website you can see their "double speak" for your self.

FYI, our illustrious Commander in Chief was there recently. I'm guessing they didn't restrict where he could visit while on the island. Here's a link to images of his visit.

Amazing, only one or 2 photos that showed any of the surviving buildings, and they weren't close ups to show the decay....It's a crime to let so much rot for no valid reason. That could have been a great holiday spot, and a lasting memorial to the OT rating....
