Re: Passing of another shipmate.

Was told that Terry Babcock (Bermuda Shipmate) passed on 06 December 2016. Anyone have any additional information, OBIT etc.

Re: Passing of another shipmate.

So sorry to hear about Terry. Terry was an in area Vietnam Vet (Da Nang area) before I met him in Bermuda (71-72). In Bermuda he asked me if I had been in Da Nang as he had seen the name Smock on a short timers list over there. My reply was no, but my brother was over there (Air Force). I called my brother and sure enough that was his name that Terry saw in Da Nang. Small world. Rest in peace Terry. - Ed Smock

Re: Passing of another shipmate.

Sad to hear of Terry's passing. We were at the OSSD together and he was always a positive presence when we worked. He always had a laugh or good word to brighten the work day. My condolences to his family.

Re: Passing of another shipmate.

Chuck, found this on the Surtass Facebook page. Was added by Ed Hoak on Dec 9, 2016:

"Sad news to pass on to my SURTASS and Hughes/Raytheon (past and current) families. Terry Babcock passed away Tues, 6 December 2016 in Tucson, Arizona. Terry lost his battle with multiple myeloma. I haven't heard or seen an obituary or funeral details yet. I will pass along when I see it."

Nothing since then.

Re: Passing of another shipmate.

Terry and I served together in Bermuda and then again at Hughes years later. He was a good shipmate, friend and softball player.

RIP Terry.

Re: Passing of another shipmate.

Nick,

We both knew Terry in BDA and he was, indeed, a great asset to our system. He always had a smile on his face and you had to wonder what latest shenanigan he was up to. Never any real trouble, he just like to stir the pot now and then.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends, wherever they may be.

Re: Passing of another shipmate.

Chuck Cable just sent me an e-mail directing my attention to these posts regarding the loss of Terry Babcock.

I am truly sorry to hear of his passing and in fact, have trouble accepting it.
Terry and i were stationed together a few time and crossed paths fairly often during our post active duty careers. He was a good man, a really good man.

Terry as a big man and tackled every job that he took on with vigor. He would not accept defeat. That's why I'm having trouble accepting that he lost his battle with cancer. He will be missed.

Pat and I extend our most sincere sympathy to Terry's Family.

John and Pat
